Apparently the seeding was introduced in 2007 (?) at the behest of the BBC who wanted the "big names" for the TV coverage.

As the BDO shifted the dates to clash with the GSOD that year it made it even easier for the seeds as several of the top players took their invites for the PDC coin.

The real problem is who would actually pay to watch these euro no marks and some decent pub players? Friends and family and few nutjobs still clinging on to a time the BDO had relevance
