RIP Lakeside
Re: RIP Lakeside
Something had to be done as the BDO was slowly going to the wall. This will either save it as a viable business or go spectacularly bust? Don't know which but a calculated risk is better than limping into oblivion.
Re: RIP Lakeside
Aye cant argue with that. If the event is living and dying by its ticket sales alone then they have a hell of a lot of work to do, may have to actually spend some money on advertising.craigmc wrote:Something had to be done as the BDO was slowly going to the wall. At last it’s been announced
I can guarantee you this will lift the BDO
The team at the indigo at The O2 are second to none and this event will be a major success for years to come
Well done all involved
Wayne d very confident this will be a success.

Re: RIP Lakeside
I think it's a gamble.. Lakeside was just a tired old cabaret club but it's name still brought people in.. and more importantly Potter stumped up the prize money
I couldn't see a future for the event had it moved to a venue like Preston but I think it stands a chance here.. It should attract a few and the venue is not big.. It stands a decent chance of looking OK on TV crowd wise.. I think the major question is who is sponsoring it and who covers the prize money.. Without good sponsorship the event will die long term.

Re: RIP Lakeside
do the qualified players have to pay entry fee? lets say...200£ or so...
Re: RIP Lakeside
So who going to pay the 350k purse now has a new sponsor been founded big mistake the name sold half the tickets I would have kept 1 tv event there like the WDT
Good opportunity for pdc have an event there maybe have the champion league of darts there next year

Re: RIP Lakeside
If you want to stay at the top you have to move with the times.....Lakeside was excellent but it was getting a little dated. Sometimes hard decisions must be taken if the BDO wish to remain the driving force in darts.

Re: RIP Lakeside
So in two days he has managed to secure top locations for the Big 2 tournaments. Surely thats a huge step forward.
Next to be announced will be the new sponsors and then hopefully a suitably increased prize fund.
