Ah, so he sticks to the contract on that point but not others then
Technically, he's correct.
21 days from the tournament completion according to the contracts signed...

Then that's when they are due.

I tried to explain this to Ginge when the prize reduction disgrace was made public. At that point the contacts were not void. It's really hard to avoid a contract, legally anyway. Des was varying one of the terms. The players had a choice. They could refuse the variation and sue for breach, or they could accept the variation, play and continue with the contract.

They almost all did the latter. So the contracts stand, including the variation and all the original terms. Including payment date.

It doesn’t matter if the payments aren’t due for three weeks
Tell them what they will be getting ffs
And wait until someone blabs it and we can all laugh heartily at the pathetic amounts

When we were told the amounts were obscene and would make us flip, I'm not sure that this is what the poster in question had in mind.

Because when he announces what they are getting - which will likely be broadly what has been rumoured imo - he'll be painted as a genuis for securing them something, anything. Which ingores, of course, that the winner is getting less than a quarter of last year.
Already happening, seeing people saying (and players like deano) if the prize fund is better than the rumoured 50k that came from Dutch sites then des deserved all the praise because it’s better than the rumours.
great tactic that folk often fall for. They do it in politics
Indeed. Boris' promise of 20,000 new police officers just before the election. Doesnt even cover the amount that have been cut since 2010.

Was good enough to get him elected. All hail prime minister Des jacklin!

I agree with having no issues with the 21 day pay out.. That's standard practice.. But there is a huge issue with not knowing what that payout will be after 21 days... Ridiculous the players didn't know.. They don't even have to make it public if they don't want to... although it will always come out.. but just let the players know while in the event.

Unfortunately, the fact that they continued to play on despite knowing that the terms had been varied but not what to probably puts them all in a situation whereby even when it comes out they won't have many avenues to turn down.

Of course, the fact that it was in writing that they'd still be playing for the biggest prize in BDO darts does help them a little.

I agree with the fact that any prize fund now given will be hailed as Des pulling a magic rabbit out of the hat and people will fall for it.. Or a lot will... Hand to mouth existence rarely lasts too long though..

This is more like hand to backside to mouth tbh.

So the biggest prize in darts was the 18k that John O'Shea received for the Masters.. Even that was supposed to be 25k according to O'Shea himself but he got 18k...so 19k would be coorect as per the letter.. 23k would be what was rumoured.. Anything more than 23k and I can see Des being portrayed as some knight in shining armour...
But remember they were playing for 100k a few days before the event.. Let that sink in before any back slapping goes on for whatever funds are given

Ha, your post beat my comment on the thread to it.
 Unfortunately I don't think Robert realises he is the stooge
Aye.. Did he not learn when saying the Dutch had definitely not taken BDO points off the Dutch Open.. The day before they took points off the Dutch Open..

Hanging up on the reporter is not good (taking it's a true story). He could have just said "it's private info, but he will be paid".
