If anything just shows that how desperate they were to get sponsors. Any sponsors. Probably didnt even give Des and Paula his real name :DDD:

So if Des was expecting any money from them to help with prize fund then he's going to be very disappointed.

As Ginge pointed out when it appeared, this looked shady as eff - as if the sponsor had been invented for publicity purposes. But, actually, it's worse than that. The BDo gave free publicity and advertising to a whatssapp betting scammer. Beyond belief.

Not at all beyond belief. The BDO has been in financial trouble for a number of years because of continuing to make poor financial decisions under the delusion that it has a valuable product. It's a prime target for chancers and conmen.

I wonder if the bookies had paid the BDO for having those sponsor patches?

a) it wasnt a bookie. It was basically a bloke you sent a message to, and he puts bets on for you.
b) He will have, probably something ridiculously tiny like £100.

Piffle, a top businessman like Des would have crossed all the Ts and dotted all the Is, of course they will have gotten paid.
