But if poor sales are nothing to do with promotion, time date and tickets announced, the venue itself then that leaves the actual product: the bdo itself.

Is it our fault there's no sponsor? Plenty of promotion for the other Worlds in your local Billy Hills shop at the moment. Almost as if they want to let people know about an event they're putting money in to.

Sadly, due to ill health, Trina Gulliver MBE has informed the BDO she will not be able to participate in the 2020 BDO World Professional Darts Championships. The 10-times Ladies World Champion has participated in every World Championship since she won the inaugural event back in 2001, however has had to make the difficult decision to withdraw.

Following the qualification of both Corrine Hammond and Kirsty Hutchinson via the BDO playoffs, Australia’s Tori Kewish has been invited to participate as the next player on the Ladies BDO ranking table at the time of cut-off.

Australian International Kewish has dominated the ladies darts scene in Australia this season, winning seven BDO ranked events, including the Australian Open and the Australian Grand Masters and will face Beau Greaves in place of Gulliver in the opening round of the 2020 BDO World Professional Darts Championships on Saturday 4th January.

Everyone at the BDO wishes Trina a speedy recovery and we hope to see her back on the oche again soon.

Just to bring you all up to speed.

Some of the sponsors and players haven't bought tickets yet. I have had this confirmed by a few players. So expect a steady rush of sales before opening night.

I admit it is going to take a few years to build an audience at the O2 Vertigo. We all knew this. To be honest the previous administration should have moved the world championship to a more modern venue years ago when the BDO brand was stronger. It's going to be a rough few years for the BDO, but if they weather the storm they could recover and get back to a decent place.

If not, then darts suffers as a result. I don't get why so many of the posters on this bulletin board want the BDO to go under. It provides an outlet for the players to make a bit of dough and prepares them for life in the PDC. It would be bad for the game if it does go bust. But let's face it, I am probably wasting my time with this post.

I mean a rush of ticket sales that lasts a few weeks or so. All the sessions will see an increase when the players and their supporters/sponsors buy tickets.

I'm not saying the final numbers will be anything to shout about.
