Was that 2002 final when Greatbatch hit the first live televised 9 darter?

I know it was in Holland and against Coote so I'm guessing that's the one. Veldhoven IIRC.

PDC started using that same hotel venue a few years later.

https://dartsnews.com/almost-six-thousa ... darts-2020

The organisation for the Dutch Open Darts 2020 has received almost six thousand entries for the tournament in Assen, which will be played from January 31 till February 2.
Despite the event is no longer BDO ranked anymore, 5856 registrations were processed. That is only one less than last year at the Dutch Open Darts.

The number of entries for the men’s singles, men’s pairs, ladies pairs and paradarts is even higher than in 2019. The draw for the Dutch Open is expected later this week.

Entries
Men’s singles: 3373 (2019: 3357)
Men’s pairs: 1635 (2019: 1585)
Ladies singles: 356 (2019: 367)
Ladies pairs: 196 (2019: 191)
Paradarts: 82 (2019: 44)
Girls: 31 (2019: 43)
Boys (Under 14): 31 (2019: 56)
Boys (14-18): 152 (2019: 214)

Click here https://www.dutchopendarts.nl/en/participants/ to check your registration. To search for yourself, type your last name (or your first name) in the search box. Note: This list is subject to errors. For any amendments or questions, please email: dutchopen@ndbdarts.nl.

Entries up despite them canning the BDO points and offering refunds for anyone unhappy with this. Thats one myth busted then.

Yup. Shame the youth numbers seem to be plummeting. Wonder why that is with the other events holding up fine for numbers.

However I will say this. 3,300 men's singles entries against 350 women's singles.
The "equal prize money" demands look very weak when you see numbers like that.

I expect that with sponsors, the women actually get more in proportion to the entry numbers.

What are the prize funds for this?

Edit - found it.
Men's winner 5000 euros, women's 2500 euros

So 10% of the entry numbers but 50% of the prize money levels.

With the BDO not offering points, what's the WDF policy on PDC players playing in this?

Aye, if there was no stream they would be fine to play in it.

Correct. PDC players can't play in streamed/broadcast matches.

Veenstra is not a tour card holder.
Des Jacklin: ‘People say the BDO can’t compete with the PDC, but that is the biggest load of crap in the world’

God rest Alf Garnett and Prince Phil.
