Re: The Rise of the WDF!
the sad thing is that the indigo like kgh is a venue that is a good fit for the lesser side of our sport, the facilities at indigo, the viewing aspect comms positions player aspect all of it was set up better than lakeside, same as kgh was better than event city & the like, if these venues are totally lost to darts i feel it would be a shame, however i could fully understand the reason for basing one event in holland

So now we've got three World Championships. Almost as bad as boxing.

Still reckon there will be a BDO one ?deathrides wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 10:20 pm So now we've got three World Championships. Almost as bad as boxing.
Re: The Rise of the WDF!
The WDF don't have a great track record of being able to organise anything on this scale. However, they could hardly do a worse job than the Jacklins, so I wish them well. It would help to have a world governing body running a world championship. Is the BDO even fit for purpose anymore? We have English, Scottish and Welsh organisations. Why do we need a British one on top of that? Particularly given the calibre of the board members since (well, since the BDO was founded really).
For some reason, there are a few people in the media (who should know better) calling for Wolfie to lead the BDO's revival. Didn't Wolfie try that before? Put a knife in Olly's back and then him and Barry "Siiiiixty" Gilbey made a right pig's ear of things and didn't last too long.
I still remember Wolfie almost crying because the fans were singing during a Dutch Open match he was playing against Veenstra. There was a time when the crowd singing annoyed me, but what the hell. Many other sportsmen and women have to put up with a lot worse.
You either move to a bigger venue (like the O2) and hope to attract the casual fan, who likes to drink, sing along and possibly act rather partisan, or you stay in a smaller venue where you get the funereal atmosphere you desire. You don't get both.

Re: The Rise of the WDF!
I bet safe choice for 1 of the Events is lakeside they might sponsor it they had world masters there’s before so could have that style of event there with 2-3 days stage games

BDO fans are darts fans.DavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 6:40 pmBDO stripped of ranking events and its 2 oldest majors = great news for those who support the BDO.
You just couldn't make it up.
I am sure they are happy that the players have a new world championship to compete in.

You know what coming thru will announce Little Richard as the mc and the 4 callers who left the bdo
Re: The Rise of the WDF!
They should bring back Winmau too. Those One80 Gladiator boards are utter garbage.
Re: The Rise of the WDF!
Plenty of BDO supporters despise the Jacklins.
Re: The Rise of the WDF!
Have the WDF made sure to scrutinise the calendar properly? It's very important that none of their competitions clash with the all important BICC weekends. Who wants to see a World Championship when you could be watching the battle of the inbreds with webbed feet (Norfolk) vs the breeding ground of the shrub rocketeer (Cleveland)? Or perhaps you could make a vacation of it as you travel to the Isle of Wight to see them take on West of England (is that even a county?), knowing that if you miss any action, Basgooner has it all on DVD!
Isn't being a parochial hick wonderful? And I'm only half-kidding, I've seen people on the BDO groups on Facebook questioning why the PDC (and sometimes even WDF members!) were holding tournaments that clashed with county. Why would they give a flying fu©k about that?

WDF world rankings criteria for 2020
Our ranking structure has been modified with new categories of Gold, Silver and Bronze. Men’s and Women’s events are given the same grading for each event.
Gold events are worth double Silver, which in turn are worth double Bronze.
An additional ‘Platinum’ category has been added for our new major events. As the largest darts tournament in the world in terms of player participation, the Dutch Open has also been awarded ‘Platinum’ points.
PLATINUM GOLD SILVER BRONZE
Winner 270 180 90 45
Runner Up 167 111 56 28
Semi Final 103 68 34 17
Quarter Final 64 43 21 11
Last 16 39 26 13 6
Last 32 26 17 9
Last 64 13 9
The WDF main ranking tables will continue as annual rolling tables and the new points system will be implemented for events in 2020 during this transitional year. The best 10 results (highest points value) per player will count towards their overall ranking and this will be effective on the rolling table immediately.
Tournament grading for 2020 has been transferred from the previous WDF ranking system, based on entries in 2019. All European events previously graded as ‘Major’ or ‘1’ have now been given ‘Silver’ status, with events previously graded as ‘2’ or 3’ given ‘Bronze’. Events outside of Europe are graded by the WDF in cooperation with the respective national governing bodies.
With the valued support of a number of our leading WDF nations, the following events have been upgraded to ‘Gold’ status. They will see their men’s and ladies champions qualify directly into our WDF Championship at the end of the season.
DUTCH OPEN (Platinum Points)
SCOTTISH OPEN
GERMAN OPEN
DENMARK OPEN
WELSH OPEN
ENGLAND OPEN
PACIFIC MASTERS (Australia)
SPANISH OPEN
KOREA OPEN
IRISH OPEN
CZECH OPEN
CANADA (event TBC)
Gold tournaments will also award places for the top 4 into our ‘Masters’ event. Finalists of Silver and the winners of Bronze events also automatically qualify.

Re: The Rise of the WDF!
It's all gone quiet. No rumours or leaks coming from the WDF?
Oh, for the days when Horus, lakeside ligger etc would spill the beans from the BDO camp. Looks like the WDF have no leaks, or no info to leak!
