Nine darter prize
Nine darter prize
Should there be one?
Re: Nine darter prize
didnt o sullivan pull the same excuse a few years ago for a 147 this is looking like its ,look at me im that great & good but im not bothered if theres nowt serious in it for me & stuff the fans who can go home & say i was there, fair enough its up to him to go for it or not, however greed & whats in it for me attitude is not a good look to be portraying imo
Re: Nine darter prize
Hes a tit. He still needs to hit the double to win the leg (Ronnie missing the last black of a 147 on purpose would still win him the frame) so he may as well go for it.

Is the correct answer.
The prize money pot was boosted at the expense of the 9 darts prizes. As he hoovers up a huge chunk of that ,hes actually taking it from the lesser players that hit 9 darters on the ProTour.

To save money World Snooker stopped the individual 147 prize.only85 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:00 am didnt o sullivan pull the same excuse a few years ago for a 147 this is looking like its ,look at me im that great & good but im not bothered if theres nowt serious in it for me & stuff the fans who can go home & say i was there, fair enough its up to him to go for it or not, however greed & whats in it for me attitude is not a good look to be portraying imo
Now there’s a £1m prize pot but it’s only paid out for 20+ 147s in the 1 year tour season (snookers not a calendar year as the season ends at the WC in May). Then if 20+ the pot is shared by all those making it. So if 21 147s each gets 1/21 of the pot. If you made 3 of those you get your 3 shares so 3/21.
Only point is I think maximum 147# in a season in past is only something like 12 so never likely to be paid out.
Is why O’Sullivan deliberately messed a 147 up right at the end as said he wouldn’t be paid for it and others doing the same.
So saves the organisers money but must be a negative for fans and the venue and TV viewers with most players now not bothering.
Re: Nine darter prize
To be fair there is a prize.
Re: Nine darter prize
But it’s a gold coloured one as was on TV
The rest get silver colour for been made on floor tournaments.
I presume the ET and televised board at the PC are still silver as not real TV ?
Re: Nine darter prize
ET events count as streamed. Only TV Majors get the gold ones. In bold in the list in this article.malcy93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:26 amBut it’s a gold coloured one as was on TV

A 9-darter is worth one leg.

Re: Nine darter prize
I think everyone sees it’s easier to hit 9 darters on today’s boards. Go back to 2002 sized segments and their would be a prize for a 9 darter.
Re: Nine darter prize
Get the begging bowl out...oh no no no, doesn’t happen in the PDC

Re: Nine darter prize
2002 was a vintage year for the 9er. 5 in total.TheSandman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:59 am I think everyone sees it’s easier to hit 9 darters on today’s boards. Go back to 2002 sized segments and their would be a prize for a 9 darter.
The previous 3 years there was just one.
Re: Nine darter prize
And yet even with the ridiculous Winmau/180 segments it doesn't happen in the BDO.TheSandman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:59 am I think everyone sees it’s easier to hit 9 darters on today’s boards. Go back to 2002 sized segments and their would be a prize for a 9 darter.
How can this be?
Re: Nine darter prize
That's a bit of a whoosh. We're saying completing a 9 gets 1 leg just like completing a 147 gets 1 frame.
Re: Nine darter prize
Yeah, only £2.5m won by MVG in the last two years....
