PDC 2020 Asian Tour

Post by ssjsa »

The PDC Asian Tour will be bigger than ever in 2020, with two more tournaments added to next year's circuit.

Since its inception in 2018, the Asian Tour has been a roaring success giving players across the continent the chance to play in a series of $10,000USD events.

In 2019 Lourence Ilagan of the Philippines topped the Asian Tour Order of Merit and he will be joined by fellow-Asian stars Seigo Asada, Paul Lim, Noel Malicdem and Yuki Yamada at the William Hill World Darts Championship

Dates and venues for the 2020 PDC Asian Tour are now confirmed, with the first of seven double-header weekends taking place in Seoul from February 29-March 1.

Further weekends will be held in Kobe, Leyte, Nanchang and Taipei, with details of the final two weekends of the year still to be finalised.

The top four players on the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit after Event 14 will qualify for the 2020/2021 William Hill World Darts Championship.

Following Event Eight, the top two players on the Asian Tour Order of Merit from each nation competing at the 2020 World Cup of Darts will represent their country in Hamburg in June.

Nice to see some further growth. Wonder if they will try and go to India.

Hong Kong and Malaysia must be other targets as both previously held events. Going to Japan or Philippines for a 2nd weekend would be the worst idea though.

Why such a bad idea? I thought Japanese darts is on the up.

I heard there are plans to go to India, which would align with the PDC's general aims to grow the game. There are squillions of Japanese and Filipino players, but I don't imagine they'll go there while other major countries/territories are missing, Hong Kong/Malaysia/Singapore would seem to be the way to go

Completely agree absolute nightmare when I had to go there for work and cost a fortune.
One point the visa photo requirement is a square photo will more blank space around the head, so not the traditional oblong photo shape we use here.

Found India a very unwelcoming country for all the crap you have to go through.
Singapore and Hong Kong much easier.

To be fair, it’s a pain in the hole for U.K. citizens because it’s the same the opposite way around, so just a reciprocation. I have no idea for other Asian countries.

My passport style photo was rejected because the white wall wasn’t white enough...

Same reason Indian citizens struggle to get UK visas.

The 2020 PDC Asian Tour has been subject to a further schedule amendment due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

The opening three planned weekends of 2020 have already been postponed, with the revised schedule having seen the season set to have opened on April 18-19 in the Philippines.

However, that weekend will now be rescheduled for later in 2020, with further details to be finalised.

The planned weekends on May 9-10 in Seoul and May 30-31 in Kobe are still currently scheduled but will be confirmed in due course.

Players are reminded of the advice to have appropriate travel insurance should any further changes to the schedule be required, and to only confirm flight and/or hotel bookings once their entry is confirmed.
