An opportunity for the PDC

Post by Deleted User »

I don't think Porter/Hearn would be interested for one minute, but....

Should the PDC apply to the WDF to be the British representative in place of the BDO?

Let EDO, WDO etc run the counties and other Open events and the PDC run the professional side and thus reunify the game worldwide and have one single unified World Championship with qualifying routes from all around the globe.

Crazy, I know. But you heard it here first.

What you laughing at? Go and read the WDF letter where it says exactly this.

Surely if they were an associate member then they would be WDF sanctioned, as the BDO were?

That comment still doesnt explain why you laughed at my suggestion that the BDO dont represent a "country".

No offence, David.

None taken. Healthy debate is good.
Would love it if Hearn approached them just for devilment, with no actual intent of affiliating.

' A long-running legal battle followed and ended with a Tomlin order in 1997. The BDO recognised the WDC and the right of players to choose which organisation they played for. In return, the WDC recognised the World Darts Federation as the governing body of world darts, the BDO as the governing body of UK darts, and renamed itself the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).'

I presume now the PDC can easily cease to recognise the BDO as the governing body of UK darts

Apart from a higher profile global presence in markets the PDC has been after for a while now, you mean?

Who cares? Certainly not the PDC or Barry Hearn.

The BDO and the WDF are an utter irrelevance to them. They are the main body of world darts. They hold the true world champiuonship of world darts. They know it, the players know it and the fans know it.

A bit of pointless bureaucracy isn't going to make any difference to them, how they are viewed or their ability to put on a product that is attractive to the sponsors/players/public.

The WDF has as much global presence as Patels Corner Shop in Brighouse!
