Well everything bar the point about plenty of time to win the ladies worlds, it was probably her last chanceThe Master wrote:Well Said Deta

Paddy calling the BDO the "amateur circuit", there.Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:24 am Without winning a World title it's just some girl off the amateur circuit, not even the best, hammering a few professional male players. it makes the PDC look very over rated.

True - the princess of the palace, pretty English white girl next door thing is a huge part of her marketing appeal. It's undeniable imo.Tommy T-Rex wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:32 amIt's true, or are you seriously saying that Anca Ilstra or Maria O'Brian would be in the World Series and Premier Leauge if they had done what Fallon did?Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:28 amWhat a horrendous thing to say, participants based on looks.........Tommy T-Rex wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 10:34 amGreaves is hardly a poster girl for darts. Think you missed the point, pal, if that's what she wants to do, fair play. Long term though, not sure it's great.
The BDO should hope Greaves wins, and the publicity they'd get from that. How do they capitalise on that though?
Re: Fallon Sherrock
Remember when the BDO had two young World Champions and did no promotion of them or their achievements?

I don't think Sherrock's at all pretty. But she's young, feminine, an OK communicator (huge contrast with Ashton) and being a single parent also adds to the story.Murphio wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 1:21 pmTrue - the princess of the palace, pretty English white girl next door thing is a huge part of her marketing appeal. Looks could be a factor for some of the World Series, so others might not have got the MSG spot, but I think any female player able to do what Sherrock did would have had interest in other places like Australia and New Zealand.
Especially true of Greaves. Doesn't matter that she's overweight. Greaves is _16_ this year. A 16-year old girl successfully competing against men would have been a huge story and probably bigger than Sherrock.

So this is what our society has come to.......disgraceful. Just goes to prove my point about this being sports entertainment, the PDC have ruined darts as I once knew it. Just can't believe there's so many here that are still blatantly filled with lookist tendencies . The women get their place on how they look. The heart and soul has been ripped out of darts.

I totally agree paddy! The heart and soul was ripped out of the darts, the day the chairman of the BDO added fake names into a draw so his wife could be seeded.Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 2:18 pmSo this is what our society has come to.......disgraceful. Corruption at its finest, the Russians would be proud.
Re: Fallon Sherrock
O'Brien wouldn't have been going to the USA, but she'd have been in the Premier League. Don't know about Zijlstra. The big story is a woman playing to a good standard and beating men at darts in the top competition, and the whoever it was, the crowd would have gone mental, as they did when Ashton took the first set against Dekker, and when Suzuki was competing against Richardson. And, O'Brien has some personality, which means that she'd be media friendly.Tommy T-Rex wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:32 amIt's true, or are you seriously saying that Anca Ilstra or Maria O'Brian would be in the World Series and Premier Leauge if they had done what Fallon did?Paddy McGinty wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:28 amWhat a horrendous thing to say, participants based on looks.........Tommy T-Rex wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 10:34 amGreaves is hardly a poster girl for darts. It's darts, where the long-time world champion during its recent growth was a short, balding fat man, people are still talking about a grotesquely fat man's Premier League walk-on and after some moaning from a few stupid reactionaries nobody cares any more that the PDC got rid of the walk-on girls.
