Not really fair TBH as if you look at the averages Trina and Frans Hoenslaar(spl) where both averaging pretty good. In fact better than some of the more modern winner in some finals.

But so was Taylor in many of the early PDC ones, and people are quick to dismiss those

In fact just looking they have the highest combined average final in 2004 and Trina has 3 out of the 5 90+ averages to be hit at the women’s worlds.

And she was hitting them on less generous boards. 2001 to 2007 was the period when she was at her best and then her standard of play dropped.

I didn't think so He took on Lowe, Wilson, Anderson, Evans, Rees, Whitcombe, George, Deller, Gregory, etc. The tournaments were great and worth watching - could hardly say the same for Gulliver vs Kirk. Men's darts also had a history going way back with the NOTW, etc. So it wasn't like they were just starting out.

And yes I know you're trying to make a point, but you can't compare the early Embassy tournaments with the early women's championships. Deta was the best female player for a long time but didn't take part in the first nine tournaments, due to work or her PDPA membership.
