This will now put anyone off doing business with him and the BDO ...he's managed to sink it to another level.

Transalated, The BDO owe the Dutch company that broadcast the World Masters over 30,000 euros and Mr Selecta has said they can go whistle for it! This could bring the BDO down if it goes to court.

That’s exactly what article says. The production company of the World Masters hasn’t got the money yet. Ten thousands of pounds. The company has sought legal advice.

Article also says that Sporttotal also waits for payments.

Apologies if already been discussed but seen on dartfreakz that the BDO still haven’t paid for the Masters production ?

1:1 apparently due tens of thousands and in trouble of folding themselves?

Hope the current Worlds Production team got a deposit!

Scholten said during comms on Eurosport he wouldn't be surprised if the tournament doesn't reach it's conclusion on TV. I'm starting to agree with him.

If true: simple solution.

Say we need payment tomorrow or we walk away after tonight.

They will have a contract that says for example "payment within 30 days" if they walk they would likely get sued themselves.

If Des employed a company knowing he didn't have the funds to pay them then he has committed fraud

Fraud Act 2006

Obtaining services dishonestly (Section 11)

The defendant:

obtains for himself or another;
services;
dishonestly;
knowing the services are made available on the basis that payment has been, is being or will be made for or in respect of them or that they might be; and
avoids or intends to avoid payment in full or in part.

This offence replaces obtaining services by deception in Section 1 of the Theft Act 1978 which is repealed by the Act.

The defendant must have the necessary intention at the time that the service is obtained (section 11 (2) (c)).

In many cases, the defendant will also have committed an offence under Section 2 of the Act by making a false representation that payment will be made or made in full. Prosecutors must decide which offence better reflects the criminality involved. The maximum sentence for the Section 11 offence is five years' imprisonment.

and section 2 is

Fraud by false representation (Section 2)

The defendant:

made a false representation
dishonestly
knowing that the representation was or might be untrue or misleading
with intent to make a gain for himself or another, to cause loss to another or to expose another to risk of loss.

The offence is entirely focused on the conduct of the defendant.

Is it fraud if he intended to pay them out of the proceeds of the budgeted ticket sales?
