BICC Fixtures 18-19th Jan
Re: BICC Fixtures 18-19th Jan
Would it be a better carbon footprint if it leads to 100k?
Re: BICC Fixtures 18-19th Jan
Sorry...is she seriously suggesting that BICC straws broke the camel's back?

I use carbon stems to offset my carbon footprint
just because someone offers you a plastic straw you don't have to take it, just like you don't have to shoot baby turtles or dolphins if someone offers you a gun

She must be a Cheshire player if he's backing this.

Confusing carbon footprint and the plastic pollution problem, but otherwise reasonable points.
If you can give drunk people alcoholic drinks without straws in tall, almost full glasses, there is obviously very little need for straws at all.
Barrels and points are metal, so no problem with those: gather them up and take them to a scrap dealer.
Darts flights and stems are the problem darts waste. They wouldn't be items for standard recycling, but many types of plastic waste can be recycled as long as it's sorted and collected in a large enough amount. Cost of collection and sorting, rather than the process is very often the barrier to recycling, and darts competitions would offer a quick and easy way to gather darts waste.
It's something that a darts organisation could figure out with the manufacturers. They'll have an idea of what plastics are used. If the plastic is consistent, then it should be possible to find a company to recycle them.

I dont know many people that play county darts thinking "this is my road to the world championship".
It's an amateur team event and an opportunity for people to play a stage set up in front of a reasonable sized audience and test yourself under scrutiny, whilst having some drinks and laughs with like minded people
I dont really see what relevance the state of the BDO, worlds and tour has to do with county tbh. The issues she raised about the personal cost and such were true 5, 10 and 20 years ago.

Not as bad as Bucks A, 11-1 loss to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.DavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 9:07 pmCorrect. Expected them to be the difference.Black Velvet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 6:53 pm Bit of a pathetic performance from the men’s B team really.
They were but not in the way I expected.
4 of the top A players at Q school. So B players bumped to A and reserves brought in. Not good enough.
I'm sure London were depleted too but Wigan is much closer to us than them, and we definitely miss Ayres, Phillips, Richardson and Lynskey.
Again, three top men’s A players in Wigan.

I realise it affects all the counties in some way, but the closer you are to Wigan, the more likely you are to lose players.Black Velvet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:03 amNot as bad as Bucks A, 11-1 loss to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.DavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 9:07 pmCorrect.
