The PDC doesn't need the BDO?
The PDC doesn't need the BDO?
Okay, so some have suggested that the PDC doesn't need the BDO. Let's look at some of the fastest rising stars in the PDC.
Glen Durrant: Best newcomer, top of the PL, top 5 player in the world.
Danny Noppert: Top 32, will perhaps crack the PDC's top 16.
Jeff Smith: Made the final of a PC event today.
Scott Mitchell: Top of the CT.
The point is that the BDO's top players between 2015-2018 have now added depth to the PDC at a time when the standard has slipped in the PDC and their youth system is underperforming. It is therefore clear that the PDC benefits from the BDO.
Note, this isn't an attack on the PDC. It is just an observation.

Can't really argue with that.
Re: The PDC doesn't need the BDO?
WDF could be a feeder for the PDC. Every country affiliated has a structure in place. England, Scotland and Wales could easily cope without the BDO.

Ian making snap judgements after very few events, there.
Re: The PDC doesn't need the BDO?
It's embarrassing, isn't it? Averages today on the ProTour are as high as they've ever been for any floor event.
Ian - if you post idiocy on the web lots of times it doesn't make it true. Except in your deluded mind, maybe.

Re: The PDC doesn't need the BDO?
The PDC definitely does need a supporting system where players with ability and or ambition can come from.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be the BDO though- if it folded another org would takes its place.
You’re right about the PDC not being self sufficient.

Another fanboy. Look at the facts.
MVG: Not as good as he once was.
Gurney, Suljovic, Wade, Lewis: All off form
Anderson: Not many years left.
Smith: Not got the bottle.
Cross: Not consistent enough.
The only real PDC success stories in the past few years are Price and Aspinall.

PC1 2019: 91.7 average
PC1 2020: 92.2 average
The overall standard is improving over the years. Yes, some players have dropped down in form but has always been happening. New players take their places.

He still defends Des and Paula's behaviour.
At least he won't be fekkin 'avin it.

Those new players are mostly from the BDO.PreciesJJ wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 6:11 pmLook at the facts.Wazza180 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 6:07 pmAnother fanboy. Look at the facts.

All if I did was add a bit of balance to the conversation. The basement dwellers are just as bad as the Jacklins.

Re: The PDC doesn't need the BDO?
Thing is, you don't actually add any balance. At least not anything that is reasoned. Yes, currently the BDO will supply the PDC with their talent. That's because players have to start somewhere and only progress to the PDC if they're good enough. Whilst the BDO (and others) provide this supply of talent, why should the PDC waste resources in developing their own?
Players generally aspire to reach the PDC which means they don't have to worry about finding the next big thing. At the moment, they are the main player and people go to them. If that changes, then I'm sure they will change their focus and look to develop the youngsters.
PDC do not have any requirement to help grassroots darts - that's not their business. However, they do help by offering a route to actually earning proper money and fame.

So the PDC is dependent on the BDO in some ways?hankeys_taint wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 8:55 pmThing is, you don't actually add any balance. At least not anything that is reasoned. If the BDO folded tomorrow pub players would still find a route to the PDC and something else would fill the little bits of the void that were actually missed.
Probably the WDF.
County, Opens, Challenge Tour and Dev Tour, UK Open quals, whatever would provide a development route. Or players could just play those comps if they didn't want to go to the show.
If the BDO folded life would just carry on.
Nobody *needs* the BDO. Except maybe the Jacklins.

Whereas if the pdc folded tomorrow, none would do anything about it. Professional darts would just collapse, no more arenas or tv darts. That would definitely be the end.

There is as much chance of the PDC folding tomorrow as you growing an inch, the BDO on the other hand.....
