Yes you had the Sportotal contract signed by Sue but then you had things like running a £190k loss on Lakeside 2019 by Des not cutting the money.
Both as bad as each other

I voted Des. maybe when all info (from sue era) is brought into the open I might change my mind.
Did she spin loads of stories with promises that never happened? I can't remember.

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
Obviously the correct answer is both as bad as each other, but the real mystery is how on earth did the BDO / counties find two such equally hopeless dickwits in such quick succession?
At some point in the not too distant future, the last decade of the BDO will be an essential case study in Sports Administration degree courses at former polytechnics up and down the country.

and also both are still in positions of leadership within the bdo system at this time! Sue even part of the new saviours; the tri-nations, I believe.Buzz Fledderjohn wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 11:58 am Obviously the correct answer is both as bad as each other, but the real mystery is how on earth did the BDO / counties find two such equally hopeless dickwits in such quick succession?

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
This was a toughie, however I have went for Des.
Was going to catalogue my rationale for this choice, but on reflection, not necessary as we all are aware of how he bankrupted the BDO.
On second thoughts, it is not a toughie, but rather a no brainer.

In the broadest of strokes, the case against Sue boils down to "Sportotal" and "Warren Brown".
The case against Des boils down to "Being Des Jacklin".
I'm still calling it a draw.

Both shocking - Sue for losing good tv contracts, starting the World Trophy, getting into bed with Warren Brown and Sportotal, and being inept at administration and publicity, Des for gambling everything on the O2, continuing the World Trophy, losing good will among almost everybody, losing WDF support, and being inept at administration and publicity!

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
Whilst both were equally culpable I suspect that history will be more sympathetic towards Sue.
Her many strategic blunders were the result of being out of her depth, taking bad advice, and believing anything that any passing chancer told her.
Des's mistakes came from always thinking he knew best, and putting off anyone who was in a position to help with his unremitting obnoxiousness.

Des is a millionaire, that didn't happen by accident, he is obviously business minded. Pretty obvious the damage to the BDO was done prior to him taking over.

I voted Des

This. Sue was incompetent. But in my opinion, Des was not only incompetent but also dishonest, deceitful, cynical, wasteful and arrogant. Deliberately ignoring advice, burying his head in the sand and reeling out the "I know best" line constantly.
He's continued trading when the org was clearly going bust and knowing he couldn't pay the creditors.
It's probably illegal, in which case I hope he goes to prison.

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
Is there an option for all of the above including those in the tri nations team for voting them in?

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
It's a interesting thought who was worse.
Sue definitely ran the BDO into the ground and I feel this was a thankless task to take over.
But Des didnt help himself lying to players, Sponsors (I know this) and loosing the trust if there was any there ti start with.
Now we have No BDO which was only a matter of time

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
Surely a simple choice
one is a multi millionaire successful business person able to sit and negotiate deals from the work floor to the boardroom
and the other
is married to Paula

Re: Who did a worse job of running the BDO-Vote
He's not a millionaire their business accounts suggests otherwise.
Any 'success' he has had is down solely to marriage.

Des.
My BDO analogy is the ending of the Italian job. Sue drove the bus recklessly and ended up with it teetering over the edge of the cliff. Des is michael Caine saying, hang on a minute lads I've got a great idea.
And that idea was proceeding to send the rest of the passengers to the back end of the bus and toppling it for good in a fiery explosion losing all the money into the bargain.
