THE field of qualifiers for the 2011 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship has been confirmed, with 16 competitors to take part in the preliminary round of the £1 million tournament in December.[wrapimg=right]http://www.pdc.tv/javaImages/b7/ab/0,,1 ... 391,00.jpg[/wrapimg]
The World Championship, to be staged from December 16-January 3 at Alexandra Palace in London, will see 72 players from around the world competing for the £200,000 title.
The PDC's top 32 players will qualify automatically for the tournament, alongside the top 16 non-qualified players from the Players Championship Order of Merit after the final PDC ProTour events on November 28.
Additionally, the top four non-qualified players from the European Order of Merit will qualify and earn a place in the first round, alongside the leading player from the PDC's North American Order of Merit.
The winner of the PDPA Qualifier, which will be held on Monday November 29 in Derby, will join them in the first round, alongside the DPA Australian Grand Prix champion and the runner-up (who replaces Oceanic Masters winner Simon Whitlock).
There will be 16 further players competing in the preliminary round at Alexandra Palace, comprised mainly of champions of national knockouts held around the world as well as a second player from the North American Order of Merit.
Qualifying events are being held in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, the Caribbean, Japan, the Philippines, Germany, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as separately for West Europe, East Europe and South Europe, with two further places to be confirmed.
The final of the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay, between Michael Mansell and Stephen Byrne, will be held at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on Sunday October 10 as the curtain-raiser to the Bodog.com World Grand Prix final, with the winner taking a preliminary round place.
Tickets for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship are available through www.seetickets.com/darts or via 0871 220 0260 (calls cost 10p per minute from a BT landline)

Would Russia come under the PDC East European remit?

was looking earlier at the pc oom and currently every one down to 47 qualifyswhich is tony randall with mawson 100 behind
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Of course, assuming Part stays 32nd, which he probably will. Thanks for the correction.nookie wrote:more likely gary mawsonBradders wrote:It looks like Darin Young will be plunged into the Prelims then

Re: World Championship Qualifying Spots
The OoM ignoring anything to be defended between now and the Worlds has Part in 32nd but a considerable amount ahead of 33rd:nookie wrote:Bradders wrote:Of course, assuming Part stays 32nd, which he probably will. 32 - Part, John* £62,042
----------------------
33 - Eccles, Tony* £52,742
34 - Mardle, Wayne* £48,842
35 - McDine, Kevin* £46,592
36 - Dolan, Brendan* £42,600
37 - Manley, Peter* £42,570
So quite safe unless someone like Steve Brown gets to the WGP final, or Brendan Dolan making the semis. Stranger things have happened though.
He also has little chance of moving up to 31st seed as Bates will be £8k+ ahead of him once WGP first round money is accounted for. So a Taylor/Part Ally Pally showdown seems likely if both can get through their first round match.

Re: World Championship Qualifying Spots
Think he would need to get to the Last 16 in Dublin and that would put him £2,300 behind Part, then it all comes down to Pro Tour winnings. Getting to the quarters would put him £3,200 ahead of Part.nookie wrote:tony eccles is close and not far from aqualyfing place for the wgp either
He would need a kind draw in Dublin though, got tonked by Whitlock in Blackpool. His DPA win a few Saturdays back perhapos shows he is coming back into some form though.
He needs Last 16 places as a bare minimum in the 4 remaining events this weekend and in a fortnights time to stand any chance though, IMO. Depending on others that might not even be enough,
