Darter Raymond van Barneveld returned to his old manager Ad Schoofs. The two stood at the base of the darts hype late nineties, but their collaboration ended five years ago when Barney switched from the BDO to the PDC darts association.

Barney is back with Schoofs, is looking for new successes. He is quoted saying " champions have a plan. losers have an excuse. The time for excuses is over". That's it.

Why Barney thinks he can have success under the management of a man who ruined Dutch darts, I have no idea.

translated from dartsinfo.

Raymond van Barneveld has decided return in the time. Ad sheaves by directly the role of manager of the quintuple world champion in itself will take. This decision has been taken Tuesday by Van Barneveld. The wisseling comes two days after the very successful PDC World cup darts, on which Barney have been with Co Stompé catch title first since 2008 had been possible. The previous period Van Barneveld was accompanied Gerard of dike, of him by direct farewell it has been taken. Sheaves and Van Barneveld were a small decade a very successful combination and with sheaves as a manager Barney gained a ditch to world titles and other large price. In February 2005 there however an end came to cooperation which in 1998, started. Two years later Van Barneveld made the overstap to the PDC and at the end of that year there a provisional end came to sheaves in the darts world. He organised the international darts League and the World darts Trophy. These tournaments disappeared after much brouhaha and sheaves returned a step. He returns now as a manager of Van Barneveld with a clear message. Back to basic, as Barney define it itself. " Raymond face with ad sheaves this challenge, to will perform this way optimally. Winners have a plan, losers an excuse. The time of excuses is beyond. The fans in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and concerning the whole world deserve motivated and mentally strong Raymond van Barneveld."

He played his part (as did Mr Hearn and others) but making him the sole scapegoat doesnt cut it.

Surely the people to blame for 'ruining' Dutch darts are the Dutch public? It's them who lost interest as soon as it became apparent that the Dutch aren't the greatest nation in darts. Now they suddenly win the 'World Cup' and Ad Schoofs is back on the scene and no doubt speculation will begin as to which Netherlands-centric darts tournaments will be returning or added to the calender... and of course, if the existing darts orgs like the PDC and BDO, who work hard all year round to create and support proffesional tours for players don't bend over backwards to help them make it work, even to their own detriment, then of course they will be the villains, destroying Dutch darts by not making it all about them. And the fickle Dutch public can turn off their TVs as soon as the Netherlands lose a game and blame it all on someone else.

If the Dutch think they're the best at darts then they become interested. Otherwise they're not. They stopped watching at precisely the time Dutch players stopped winning majors. That's why darts has died on its arse there. They have no inherant interest in the game, just patriotic success.

If gimmick events like 'Holland vs the World' are what we get when the Dutch are interested in darts then frankly who wants them?

You're taking the words right out of my mouth there! ;)

Bradley let me tell you, Ad and Raymond have made darts big in Holland and I'm not a Schoofs stalwart or so, I'm just telling it like it is. I'm glad Raymond has come to senses instead of Zenses and Ad being a former army officer will, joined by his darts experience, be the right man to get Raymond back on the track to more success.

Biggest load of crap ever posted on this site. It's very clear that you have absolutely no clue about what you are posting.

If you would have had the decency to watch any broadcast of darts on SBS6 after 2005 you would have seen what all the Dutch fans mean. Nowadays, SBS is doing so bad they have had to switch one of their best watched programmes called Popstars from a saturday evening to a monday evening because the competition was too heavy for them! This is all the result of treating the public as an idiot with annoying prize question such as who's nickname is wolfie?

The Dutch public watched darts even when it aired at 00:00 in the night, because the programming only starts then. Even then, over 500 000 people watched, making it by far the most watched programme in that time slot.

And as for succes in darts: it helps, but it also helps in England. You keep forgetting that cricket, soccer and darts are popular in the UK because English players or teams do very well in those competitions. Don't fool yourself.
