Re: UK Open Qualifier 2 - Sunday 27th February 2011 - Barnsl
Obviously the top rankings, is with money not taking off i think.
Just the same as last year, the debate with the uk open games and money won, nt going towards the pcoom.
Obviously there is some benefit, of winning more money in UK open games, as get more money in uk open and dont need to play the pre lims and first few rounds. But i bet anyone outside the top 32 (and 16 if struggling to get in through pcoom) would snap there hands off at if they would swap a Uk open qualifying win for a pc tour win at this stage of the year for all the extra guaranteed prize money.
£6,000 Worlds
£5,000 Matchplay
£4,000 Grand Prix
£2,500 Euros
£3,000 Players Championship finals
£1,000 Uk open
= £21.500 in Guaranteed Prize Money

Re: UK Open Qualifier 2 - Sunday 27th February 2011 - Barnsl
well done Michael Smith...great for PDC darts that a 20 year old can come out and win events...it certainly seems the right time to have started the youth tour and is sure to attract other youngsters now...they can all see what can be achieved
as for the UK Open rankings..well i like the UK Open...it gives everybody a chance to get to Bolton from a totally level playing field...it has been advertised as the UK Open these events...you can qualify for the later stages by how you do and if you just seeded the top 96 through plus 32 Rileys qualifiers then you stop the dreams of a lot of players...not long ago it would have barred Michael Smith himself from trying..players like David Coyne couldn't come over from Ireland to have a go...Chizzy, Hendo etc were not top 96 so what do they do ?
There are loads of pro tour events to qualify for TV but this is the UK Open....different seedings, bigger fields and a totally different competition altogether..good money as well and it can help you in the OOM so i cannot see the problem

Wow...what a weekend again. Chisnall is doing some serious business for the Order and new fresh faces are claiming the titles...Brown and Smith very nice. Lost the final at the youth tour yesterday en won the men’s today. Nice to see that the youngsters are performing at the tour

looks like the changing of the guard could have well begun.
These floor comps are just too difficult to call now and are like a lottery
