Smith prevails in a dramatic deciding leg - missing three darts for victory before Chisnall sees a dart at double top for an 80 finish land low, and the youngster takes out double five with his third dart for the title

I like this comp, everyone starts on zero and yes players are nervous but winnings from June go on the 2 yr oom and this if playing well will build you towards the majors but playing the other weekends in the players champs could get you into the majors also so is this not a double whammy?
Anyway well done Micheal Smith, just to add at the start of todays play he was presented with £200 for his 9 dart achievement yesterday.

Re: UK Open Qualifier 2 - Sunday 27th February 2011 - Barnsl
Dave Chisnall after just 6 tournaments, is already in the Top 100!
Re: UK Open Qualifier 2 - Sunday 27th February 2011 - Barnsl
Smith now moves up to 73 in the PDC Order of Merit.
Before today, he had lost all three of his matches (winning just four legs) on the PDC Tour this year - twice to Chisnall and once to Van Der Voort. He beat both players on the way to the title today.
He missed the deadline to play in Derby last week so was forced to sit out.
In the past 24 hours, he has picked up £6600. £6000 for the win today, £400 for runner-up in the PDC Youth comp, and £200 for the nine-darter. He also recorded a 132.62 average last night against Michael Van Gerwen.
Talk about a change in fortunes!
