Of course, if you change your "active users" timescale back to 5 minutes, the number of guest (and indeed users) would appear much less.

I remember someone else had their active users list set at 30 minutes.

Why have you changed it?

How many minutes would you suggest is a good setting?

Anywhere between 5 and 15 is better.

You can hardly call someone who visited the site 29 minutes ago a "current visitor". You can watch an episode of EastEnders in that time.

It was 5 minutes (or maybe 15) a few days ago, I'm sure of it.

But if you don't log on every 2 minutes it is nice to see who is on or has been on in the last 30 minutes.
I think 5 is probably too short maybe 15?
It's a bit of a non-argument to tell the truth. I mean if you're still online but away from your computer for 2 hours you can't tell the difference.

What I would like to see is the difference in posting or reading then you can really see if someone is active and reacting to the thread.

Personally I don't think it matters a stuff what time period you use for active members.

If anyone does think it's contentious, I would suggest they may need to get out more.

There has been a lot of guests on today - I hope they thought our humble little venture was worth revisiting. :DDDD:

If it "doesn't matter", why was it changed? Not contentious, just makes the place look busier than it is.

If this discussion bothers you so much, I shall get the mods to split this discussion off into the Site Suggestions thread. After all it is a site suggestion.

You got a quiet one planned?

Anyway it was merely an observation. I have made suggestions that have been implemented (such as easier Youtube tagging) so was merely continuing in this vein.

Anyway, peace out!
