Tough group for England, how's your luck.
Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Draw
England's first match will be at 2am on a Sunday night/Monday morning unless they swap it with the Costa Rica v Uruguay match. Common sense says they will do for TV purposes.

Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Draw
Can't swap the time of the match due to temperature and humidity - even at the late start time it will be very unbarable for both teams.Ginge wrote:Correction: Saturday night/Sunday morning.Ginge wrote:England's first match will be at 2am on a Sunday night/Monday morning unless they swap it with the Costa Rica v Uruguay match. Common sense would be to switch the venue, so both teams don't have to fly 9000 miles to play a game in the mid 30's C and 90% humidity only to fly back after.

They could swap times, other matches are played in Manaus later in the event earlier in the day.Stubby wrote:Can't swap the time of the match due to temperature and humidity - even at the late start time it will be very unbarable for both teams.Ginge wrote:Correction: Saturday night/Sunday morning.Ginge wrote:England's first match will be at 2am on a Sunday night/Monday morning unless they swap it with the Costa Rica v Uruguay match. It won't happen.
Re: 2014 FIFA World Cup Draw
Times were changed in 2002. The England/Sweden match at 2.30pm local time in Japan was swapped with the Argentina/Sweden match at 6.30pm local time.polarbear70 wrote:It won't happen.
So it's not as if it hasn't happened before. FIFA aren't thick, English and Italian TV rights holders have more clout that Costa Rican and Uruguayan broadcasters.

Great News. Shocked that common sense prevailed.
