Bad nights, better side or indicative of the state of Scottish football?

Probably the latter. The Scottish league has been sliding down the UEFA co-effieicnt list for ages now, a few years ago they got one side straight into the group and another having to qualify, now they cant even get one side into the final qualifying round.

Think even the manager has come out and said the team is crap!

This debacle of a result should be laid firmly at the door of Peter Lawell and the plc board. The financial position of the club has been the primary focus, regardless of the weakening of the playing squad to a degree that would allow a pretty average team like Legia Warsaw, not only to turn us over, but to completely rout us. Whilst we will win the SPL in a canter, this season's Champions League qualification matches have damaged the club's reputation and has put us in a much poorer place in the transfer market, should we decide to invest in the player market. Who would want to come and play at Paradise with no European football? Forster and Van Dijk will be away by the end of the month as well. Still it could be worse, we could be playing in the First division.

Think it was the officials. Legia chairman has accepted responsibility for it, it seems, so cant imagine there will be an appeal.

My understanding was that the player concerned was to start a three match ban in the second qualifying round against the Irish side, but the club didnt "register" him for those matches so the ban didnt start until the Celtic tie.

Find that strange, the suspended player only came on for the last 3 min when Leiga were already well clear. Happened a few years ago I think, sub came on with a few min to go who was also meant to be suspended and uefa or the power that be decided they had not intentionally broken the rules and it had no bearing on the result. I would have thought the same here for Leiga with the precedent already set.

However, pleased another UK team has now qualified, or will they by a UK team by the end of Sep??

If there is an appeal it certainly wont be on the basic of the Poles claiming they did nothing wrong, it will be on the punishment, and the case from a few years ago will be cited.

It is and completely unfair on Legia Warsaw, as they were clearly the better team. Whilst on a personal level, this is a great opportunity for Celtic to bank circa £20 Million if they can get past Maribor, the offence made no difference to the result and I'm pretty sure if it had been Barcelona or Real Madrid, there is no way the same penalty would have been applied.

It's a joke, Celtic were rubbish, they also got seeded and a dog easy draw in the final qualifying round.

Probably, however £1.6M from EUFA for participating in the final qualifier, coupled with gate and tv revenue has put significant money into the coffers and puts us even further in front financially of our friends across the city. :D

I don't do excuses but we need rid of the current board for their greed , instance Desmond himself is a Billionaire
and if he had Celtic fc at his heart then he would hand the soon to be named new manager some decent money
to get the club into the Champs league and giving the new guy time to get players in
to aid the manager into getting the club where it should be in the Champions league .

We are unfortunate be a Scottish club in todays World as no moneys hardly is made from football here
its made over the border in England where their teams inc even the bottom side from the Epl receive much more money
than Celtic fc do for winning the Spl title

Celtic have the infrastructure and stadium 2nd to none as well as a very large fanbase
its only in the Scottish league thay suffer for the lack of moneys made

Ive always stated money spoilt our game from way back when Dalglish first left for Liverpool
and then others began to follow South ..But today now if Celtic were say playing in the Epl
then make no bones about it as from John O' Groats to Lands End all know deep down that all
businessmen would be falling over themselves for wanting a part of Celtic fc as simple as
because moneys made would be eye opening and Celtic in say 3 yrs in the Epl would be right up there
and don't forget with the passion from such a club in comparison to all your Epl sides

Celtic would win the Epl as top class players from the UK and abroad would want to be a part of something
exciting as not a club in Europe would have seen something like Celtic if they were allowed in the Epl
and would also at same time make the other English clubs having to try to keep up .

England would not have seen anything like such happen if this was allowed but all in all saying such
it wont happen and so we have to make do as we are , but this should not stop a Billionaire put money into
giving the new manager money to purchase a better player or two ..its peanuts to Desmond after all.
