Alex Higgins Has Died

Post by ST87 »

It's just been announced that the former World snooker champion has Alex Higgins has died. He was 61. Desperately sad news, if not entirely unsurprising given his long-standing health problems.

He was at the peak of his powers before my time but for many people he arguably helped to make snooker the sport that it was.

RIP.
Further details to be announced shortly.

This is very sad news indeed. He was a real hero of mine, a flawed genius as so many of them are.

Very sad news.

I real sporting hero to many in the early 80's.

In Northampton's snooker halls we all wanted to be 'The Hurricane'.

RIP.

RIP Alex

Bumped into higgy fairly regularly over the past 15 years. I remember the first time being shocked at somebody you had grew up watching hustling for 50ps on the pool table and tappin pints. But thats where he found himself. I am sure there were plenty more who had made money from his talent living a much better life. There was just something about him that allowed you to overlook all the crap that came with him and admire the genius. Lets hope the hurricane has finally found some peace.
