Professions at the Olympics thread...
So why can professionals in the sport of Football, Basketball, Rugby 7's, Golf, Tennis, Polo etc etc all compete at the Olympic Games but professional boxers cannot?

Why is Equestrian still in the Olympic games. All the horses have different abilities, therefore it is not a level playing field for the competitors. Also why is Equestrian the only event that both men and women compete in the same event? This would mean it is more about which Horse wins the even, not which human. We all know why it is there, wealth, time has changed, about time the Olympic committee got rid of Equestrian and made room for Darts.

I don't think the "room"is the problem... well, in fact, yes, some darts players occupy too much room / volume so having a bunch of those in the Olympic village does create a space problem.Agent 86 wrote:about time the Olympic committee got rid of Equestrian and made room for Darts.
The olympic movement has some principles, written or not, and one of those is related to the ideal of the human body (that can be developed through sport etc etc). If WDF can guarantee that only players in good shape will qualify for the Olympics then the guys in Switzerland will say yeah why not, pistol shooting is olympic sport since ages and darts requires more body skills for the same job of putting a hole in a wood.

Actually room is the problem, the IOC have basically said its pretty much one in one out. Anyway. moot point. Will never be in the Olympics and its daft to even think its possibilityChambord wrote:I don't think the "room"is the problem... well, in fact, yes, some darts players occupy too much room / volume so having a bunch of those in the Olympic village does create a space problem.Agent 86 wrote:about time the Olympic committee got rid of Equestrian and made room for Darts.
