Baseball

Post by Mr Glass »

Chat all things baseball here.

Almost a month into the 2010 MLB season already and no surprise to see the likes of the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, St Louis Cardinals and the Minnesota Twins all having good starts.

Highlights of the season so far for me have been the pitching performances of a few N/L starting pitchers.

Halladay, Lincecum and Jimenez have all been lights out on the mound.

Boston Red Sox fan here, but pleased to see the Mets and Giants starting the season promising. Hope it lasts.

LOL - right you are Chris! Too funny!!!!

Yep - A tough start for the Red Sox thus far. It is still early and as we say (and have been saying for more years than I can count...) "there's always next year!!"

Thanks for starting this thread Mr. Glass!

......right now in Boston, though, we are ALL ABOUT the Bruins !! :D

His no-hitter was just terrific.
He has now a scoreless streak of +22 innings .

And what about good old workhorse Livian Hernandez..

Just found this baseball thread -

I'm an Indians man myself - so we'll say no more about the season

Superb start for the rays & the Mets are fairly going well - early days though

Not so sure that he will keep it up for the whole season though, like I expect Halladay and Lincecum too. Still a great (and surprisingly) start to the season for the journeyman.

I do like the athletic and youthful look of the Rays line up this season. I could see them and the Yankees easily Winning 100 regular season games, which doesn't bode well for my Red Sox.

Early predictions:-

A/L
East
Rays
Yankees (wc)
Central
Twins
West
Angels

N/L
East
Phillies
Braves (wc)
Central
Cardinals
West
Rockies

Yankees vs Phillies World Series once again, with the Yankees defending their crown succesfully.

What about them Mets !!!!!

Pelfrey vs Halladay today (very tasty duel on the mound) as the Mets face the Phillies in game 2 of a 3 game series, with The New York outfit looking for their 10th straight Win of the season. Go Mets !!!

Major League leaders after April :-

RBI's - M Cabrera 25
Home Runs - P Konerko 11
Batting Ave - R Cano .400

Wins - U Jimenez 5
ERA - M Pelfry 0.69
Strikeouts - T lincecum 43

# 6 Home runs in April for the Braves rookie supersar Jason Heyward. Will be interesting to see how many he will tally up in his career.

# Pleased that the Nationals have been competing early doors in the N/L East also. Strasburg still to come up to the Majors, so definately a better season for them this year.

Overall a good first month of the season, apart from Bostons struggles. :angry5:

Still sticking with my prediction of a Yankees - Phillies Fall Classic, but leaning towards a Philly Win in six on the back of Roy Halladay.

Go Phillies !!! :headbang:

I think the Phillies will go all the way.

I hope the Rays come back on Texas as would like to see Rays have another go at the Yankees in the ALCS

Agree.

Was really surprised to see Texas take the first two against the Rays :omg:

I think it's time to make the Division Series best of seven also. (I'm sure the Twins will agree with me) :)

Red Sox fan here, but the Giants are my National League club of choice as I have had the pleasure to watch a few games over in the lovely San Francisco back in the days when Barry Bonds was chasing down Babe Ruths second on the all time list '714 career home runs'. (Great days)

Phillies vs Giants for the NLCS. Praying for a Giants Win, but the Phillies seem to be on a unstoppable march to their 3rd straight World Series appearence.

Rays surely now the favourites to meet the Yankees for the ALCS. :?

Texas made an absolute mess of game 1 in the ALCS, CC Sabathia was shocking for the Yankees but fair play to them on their comeback
