Mark Allen fined £10,000 for accusing Cao Yupeng of cheating.

Mark Allen has been fined £10,000 and given a three-month suspended ban for accusing China's Cao Yupeng of cheating at the World Championship.

The Northern Irishman claimed Cao failed to declare an illegal push shot during a 10-6 first-round defeat.

Allen later apologised for his comments and will now be obliged to undergo media training.
World Snooker said the ban would only come into effect if Allen made any new breach of rules in the next six months.

His latest punishment follows a previous case in March where he was fined £1,000 and warned as to his future conduct for comments he made about China and the Chinese people on Twitter.
He was also fined £250 in January for swearing in a press conference at the UK Championship in December last year.

A World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association statement said: "The WPBSA disciplinary committee consider that this behaviour is unacceptable and offensive to China and the Chinese players. Such behaviour will not be tolerated by the WPBSA."

Allen was also ordered to pay £1,000 towards the cost of the hearing.

Mark Williams fined for tweeting he 'hated' Crucible Theatre.

Two-time world champion Mark Williams has been fined for claiming he "hates" Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, the venue for the World Snooker Championship.

The WPBSA, the sport's governing body, has confirmed it has fined him £4,000 for his outburst at the World Championship in April.
The Welshman claimed he would "rather play at Pontins" and hoped the tournament was switched to China.

Williams has been ordered to pay a £3,000 fine and £1,000 in costs.

The WPBSA disciplinary committee ruled Williams's comments on social networking site Twitter on 20 April broke two rules, describing them as "unacceptable and potentially highly damaging to snooker's long relationship with Sheffield and the Crucible Theatre".

World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn claimed the venue would stage the event "until the day I die".
After his initial comments, Williams tweeted: "Wow, I'm in trouble [with World Snooker] for my last tweet about the Crucible."
Realising his views could spark disciplinary procedures, the 37-year-old Welshman, champion in 2000 and 2003, added: "It's only my opinion... so don't send me any letters or fines."

He added: "World Snooker been on the phone. Not sure if it's because I nearly swore, or said I hate playing at the Crucible, or want the World Championships to go to China."

The Crucible's contract to host the World Championship expires after the 2014 event. The Grade II-listed Crucible has held the tournament since 1977.

The Crucible, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, underwent a £15m refurbishment in 2007, with the building closed for three years during the upgrade. However, it continued to host the World Championship

British snooker player Joe Jogia suspended pending hearing.

World number 47 Joe Jogia has been suspended by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) pending the result of a betting investigation.

Jogia, 36, withdrew from his match against Matthew Selt in the Snooker Shoot-out in January with a leg injury.
It is understood an unusually large number of small bets were placed on Selt to win the match.

A WPBSA statement said a formal hearing will take place on 25 July.
The statement said: "As a result of the reported unusual betting patterns on the match between Matthew Selt and Joe Jogia that was due to take place at the Sky Snooker Shoot-out at Blackpool on 28 January 2012, Nigel Mawer, the chairman of the WPBSA disciplinary committee launched an investigation.

"The available evidence has been considered and in accordance with the disciplinary rules, he [Mawer] has decided that there is a case for Joe Jogia to answer in relation to a breach of the WPBSA members rules, betting rules."

The sport's governing body added that it was their chairman Jason Ferguson who decided the Leicester man should be suspended from the tour until the case had been completed.

Ferguson had indicated at the time that he was aware of Jogia's injury before he pulled out of the Blackpool event.
Last season, Jogia successfully negotiated his way through the qualifying rounds to make his first appearance in the televised UK Championship in December, where he lost 6-4 to Welshman Mark Williams in the last 32.
