1987 BDO World Darts Championship

Revenge was the name of the game in 1987 where darts' own mortal enemies John Lowe and Eric Bristow were to meet again in the final. Both had won their respective sem-finals 5 sets to 0 and the set was set for another classic. Bristow had caused controversy by previously saying there was no way Lowe could beat him, but beat him Lowe did by 6 sets to 4 to record his 2nd World title. Lowe was deserving of his victory but 1987 marked the beginning of Bristow's decline after he had started to develop dartitis earlier in the year at the Swedish Open.

Bristow managed to win the Dry Blackthorn Masters a couple of weeks later but there were a few occasions during the Nations Cup a couple of months after that, where he was struggling to release the first dart properly - The Swedish Open was held in August, I think and Bristow recalled how he practically ran across the oche when he played Dave Whitcombe!
