1989 BDO World Darts Championship

1989's event took place at the Lakeside under a cloud. The game's image had begun to spiral downwards leaving the event as the only televised tournament during the year. Sponsors were beginning to pull out and the bitter split in world darts was not going to be far away.
Defending champion Bob Anderson was defeated at the semi-final stage by Jocky Wilson who reached his second final where he would meet his old rival Eric Bristow in the final.
Jocky again was victorious in the final to pick up his second and last World title after surviving a spirited Bristow fightback after racing into a 5-0 lead, eventually coming out on top 6 sets to 4.
