The Prince of Wales, Richie Burnett, made his debut in 1995 having come into the tournament as 2nd seed after already winning the Dutch Open, the Welsh Open, the British Matchplay and the coverted Masters so it was hardly a surprise that even on his debut he marched through to his first final. There he met Raymond van Barneveld who also was making his first final appearance. Burnett took the crown in a 6 sets to 3 victory sealing his place as the new BDO top gun.
