NOTTS GO TOP

Post by Walshy »

A superb all round performance from Nottinghamshire saw them defeat a spirited Northamptonshire side 24-12

The home team had the ladies to thank yet again – they won 4-2 on the Saturday and impressed again onSunday with a 5-1 win over a strong Northants team

The weekend saw a total of 20 maximums and highlights of The B matches were Notts Brian Kirk with a 31.31average (including 102 and 101 checkouts) Neil Lawton fighting back from 2 nil down with the help of a 143 checkout to return a 3-2 win and a 29.44avg

On the Sunday Paul Harvey continued his good form with a fine win and 30.06avg only for teammate Mick Pitchford to step onto stage the very next match and hit a Man of the Match winning average of 34.16

Northants Ricky Evans showed his potential with the best leg of the weekend a classy 11 darter

A good natured encounter , it was a pleasure to referee all the matches

My thanks as always to the crew who helped out at top table, board set up, programmes/raffle and the spectators who made the atmosphere just right.

Nottinghamshire are STILL top of Division2 following a ding dong battle with Hertfordshire at the weekend.

At one point Notts were 7 nil down but managed to fight back to only be 10-8 down after day 1

On the Sunday the Ladies A shared the points 3 apiece then Notts men took the next 6 games to move 17-13 ahead - back came the home side taking the next 5 matches to heap the pressure on the final game of the weekend which saw Tom Allies of Notts take it to earn us a sporting and well deserved 18 all draw

With Lincolnshire losing Noitts stretch their lead at the top to 4 points with Herts in 3rd a further 4 points adrift.
