2010 StanJames.com World Matchplay - Day 3

Post by xtreme rebel »

Monday July 19

First Round
7.10pm Terry Jenkins v Steve Brown
8.00pm Simon Whitlock v Tony Eccles
9.00pm Robert Thornton v Gary Anderson
10.00pm Mervyn King v Jelle Klaasen

Jenkins will need to improve on his form shown so far this year. King/Klassen could be a tight one too. Really hope Steve Brown can pull it off tonight.

I'm hoping for Jenkins, Whitlock, Anderson & King to win, but that's only because of my matchplay entry 8-)

Stuart Pyke has been tweeting that Gary Anderson has an injured shoulder. Hope it is not going to affect him tonight.

Yeah that was in Vegas. Apparently its sore but not too much of a concern, unless he loses of course ;) ;)

What a stonking line up.

Want Brown, Eccles, Anderson and Jelle to win.

Sadly think that Jelle and Eccles might get turned over.

well ive got 7 out of the 8 games predicted right so far so here goes ;) :WWWW:

Steve Brown 10-7 Terry Jenkins
Simon Whitlock 10-6 Tony Eccles
Robert Thornton 7-10 Gary Anderson
Mervyn King 9-11 Jelle Klaasen

i am a strong believer of 'if you go for the seed (which is easy option) you wont predict well as theres always upsets' so while my head would say jenkins, whitlock, anderson and king i went for brown and klaasen to get some good scalps tonight.........

saying that it could well be only 1 of brown or klaasen who wins but i'm going for it tonight :D

Steve Brown 7-10 Terry Jenkins
Simon Whitlock 10-4 Tony Eccles
Robert Thornton 6-10 Gary Anderson
Mervyn King 10-7 Jelle Klaasen

At least we're guaranteed a Scot in the next round :D

My predictions here, so avoid these if you are a betting man ;)

Terry Jenkins 10 v 5 Steve Brown
Simon Whitlock 10 v 4 Tony Eccles
Robert Thornton 6 v 10 Gary Anderson
Mervyn King 10 v 3 Jelle Klaasen

Would love to know how many times we here them mention Taylor tonight as I would guess it will be 30+

Also another one would be "This is the strongest field ever" even though as they have pointed out we have no Part, Mardle or Manley
Thinking of one.

The field definately has a 'new look' to it.

Six of the guys above, were plying their trade in the BDO not THAT long ago.

Spot on, and at that time ( around 2006/2007 ) the Lakeside was getting stick for having a lack of quality. 3/4 years on and we see a PDC major on a night with these players taking up 75% of the field. Just goes to show that it could happen again in a couple of years with the likes of Bunting, Chisnall, Vos and ten Berge.

Just realised it's probably gonna be quiet on here tonight, bearing in mind half the membership is up in Blackpool shamelessly hoovering up their free booze and grub.

And what for?

Scribbling some numbers on a board. :IIII: :IIII:

What was with Steves entrance music? My Generation by The Who? Great song but hardly relates to his "Bomber" moniker. Is this the PDC giving him a tune he didn't want but they thought the crowd would know.

Could have used a number of songs instead.

Bomber by Motorhead
Where Eagles Dare by Iron Maiden
B.Y.O.B by SOAD

Just a few that spring to mind.

I don't think the players always get a choice.

Fairly sure the PDC pick a lot of the walk-on tunes.
