Do you really want an explanation of Anderson's previous? It might get a few folks around here in a bit of a tizzy.

I'd like to know what's going on. As I alluded to in my thread yesterday, Adie Lewis is fekkin about just looking to get to the next day for another payday.

What's the point in this tournament/any tournie if players arent there to win? It's like Pakistan.

You can't blame the players for the format really, like most competitions they are there to win as much money as possible. Unfortunately in this event, if you lose in the semi's and final it allows you the chance to win more dosh.

so the consensus is that Gary not only was content with losing that final, he purposely missed his attempts for the match?

I know there was the Grand Slam where Fitton allegedly lost on purpose so Ando could go through.

With all thats been going on in other sports i think they will have to look again at the format for next year-Its wide open for intrigue and innuendo, better to have 8 groups of seeded players 1-8 the rest drawn out random winners through to finals day.

Anderson missed alot of doubles all day, some on the wire and some by quite a distance. The end of the Tabern game was typical of his up and down day.

Give Tabern credit. the guy played incredible darts all day against a very strong line-up of players.

Gotta say - I hope Lewis goes out in the next group - looks like a tough group anyhow. I understand why he "appears" to game this system, year after year, but I think its inevitably detrimental to the image of the game if players even appear to stop trying once they qualify for the next payday.

I agree that the format needs looking at, I think it would be better to have only one chance each with a random draw made before time. Still a nice earner for the players - even the worst day seems to yield 1000 quid+ - about the same as a quarter final in the pro-tour...

Does anyone know if mighty mike now get his chance in CLD??
Given the fact the King was injured and replaced by someone of another group for me it seems Michael has to be the first player that needs to be called for playing..

Well done to Tabern there, it is obvious that this format needs looking at if only to dispel the talk about players losing finals in order to play and earn again. I am not for one moment saying that Gary Anderson did that but if he did and he has the confidence that he will go through in another couple of days then fair play and good luck to him.

The only problem I have is that this is a format set out for betting companies and a player who has been in fine form all day will attract bets for the final, if he then decides to lose that final in order to play and earn more the next day then that is his choice BUT it does rather go against the betting ethos of this tournament and for that reason alone I agree that the format needs to be looked at, you cannot at all blame the player for wanting to maximise his earnings.
