Taylor has nothing to complain about considering Beaton treatment last year. I suspect Taylor has had his toughest challenge during this tournament. Could have easily finished four one in Gary's favour but not to be.

only when Phil jacks it in.

GA got the talent, needs consistency over the longer format but keeping up his early set form was a massive massive ask.

Phew, feel exhausted after that.

Got to agree that Anderson could be compared to Ronnie O'Sullivan in that both are mercurial talents with far more ability than either of them realise.

Off to bed, proud of Gary, tinged with disappointment that it wasn't first to 3 sets. ;)

From a faceless guy behind a keyboard:

Well done to Gary Anderson. An awesome performance.

And of course well done to the gretaest player of all time, Phil Taylor.

Wow - had to stop posting and watch every dart in the end, what a match.

It was great to see again what Gary can do and my respect for Taylor has hit even loftier heights with his ability to shrug that kind of reception off whilst playing someone who put him under so much pressure.

I think most of us have had our say about the crowd and the commentary being a year late in criticising the booing.

What stands out for me is the respect the two of them showed each other during and after the game - it could so easily have caused friction between them - Taylor was a total class act in that regard as well as showing us why he's the greatest ever.

And head up Gary - nothing at all to be down about there, just get him in the future.

Both players were class acts tonight in both their darts and their behaviour.

Awesome stuff by the two of them last night, had Gary maintained the form he showed in the first 4 sets then I am sure we would have been talking about a famous Anderson victory. But Taylor found an extra gear and that affected Gary, it should not be a stamina issue the guy drinks 20 coffees a day :DDD:

Gary is rarely involved in a poor match, win or lose, this is why he is such a favourite with the fans.

Onto the Grand Slam next and hopefully another chance for Anderson to get one over the old master T, preferably in the final.

Excellent game of darts. All Anderson's games this week have been terrific. Hopefully it's the making now of Gary. All his double trouble crap can go out the window now, he hit doubles (starting and finishing) under the utmost of pressure.

Sky and the PDC are a bunch of hypocrites. This is the only Sky major played outside of England. The Irish are always going to favour the non-English guy and will cheer the underdog. Sky have created this type of darts and atmosphere, and have failed to criticise it many times:

- Beaton at WGP last year
- Wade last night
- King in most games

I was at the WMP 2 years ago when Wade beat Anderson and Anderson got a rough time from a very pro English crowd....not a word said about that.

Yet again, when he goes behind and is on the ropes, Taylor starts acting the prat on stage - stupid mannerisms, looking away at the crowd, smiling and trying to interact with the other player to put them off.

The last 2 sets were poor from Anderson, he admitted this himself. The 2 darts at a double in the first leg of the final set were crucial, that would of really put the pressure on Taylor. Anderson needs a few games like this and now he can really believe in himself.

A great game, but Sky & the PDC should be totally ashamed of themselves because of their hyprocrisy. Taylor too changed his tune about the crowd after he had won....he was the one onto the ref about the crowd when he was on the ropes.

The only hope now is that last night took abit out of Taylor and Lewis can step up to the plate tonight.

Was out last night so just watched last nights (well all of 2 games of it thanks to the red button)

Honestly thought Anderson had Taylor but Gary just ran out of steam.

A few in the thread have already mentioned it but what about Sid - all during the Premier League the booing of Mervyn King is "part of the game" & "adds to the atmosphere" but against Phil it is "disgusting" & "bang out of order"

Get a grip Sid

I think even the most hardcore Sid supporter will find it difficult to defend 'the geordie lip's' unbelievable commentary last night.

I couldn't believe my ears. :omg:
