They would have to prove that they knew the DVDs were counterfeit and that they were aware that Gooner was not a licensed distributor, my guess is at the very most they will get a letter requesting that they either return or destroy the items bought.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can gather, being in possession of counterfeit CDs/DVDs isn't illegal, nor is buying counterfeit CDs/DVDs (even knowingly so), at least in the UK. In regards to possession and buying, the law here urges people not to buy counterfeit goods, talks of the risk of being defrauded, lower quality goods, to think of the morality of aiding a seller engaged in criminal behaviour, possibly aiding bigger wider crimes etc.

As far as I understand, what is illegal in in the UK in regards to counterfeit goods are what the law regards as "causing loss to the copyright holder", so that's selling them for a profit, uploading them to the internet, or showing them in public. I'd be surprised if anyone can show a British case where somebody has been charged with an offence in regards to possession of counterfeit goods or buying counterfeit goods, unless that person was also selling those goods or uploading them onto something like youtube.
