Saw him at Blackburn. He's terrible. Like a Butlins Redcoat. Constantly appealing for anything and everything to be given a "lovely round of applause".

Straight out of the early 1970s, so should fit in well with the BDO.
I completely agree. Mediocre Butlins. I find it really irritating that he needs to read from cue cards too. I mean, you have 6 things to remember, 2 names (if you can't remember them, heaven help you), 2 nicknames (or you just do the Fitzmaurice trick of 'a man from (insert home town/country)') and 2 titles assuming both players have won one.

I'm not saying it's easy but, man, he looks so unnatural it's unreal. With someone like Little Richard, you can see he loves the sport and just knows who these people are, he doesn't need cue cards. Plus, he's probably bothered to research beforehand.
Absolutely spot on.
Great first post. You've clearly seen him MC. It's full on, holiday camp garbage.

Look forward to more of the same! Hopefully you're not one of our regular multiples :D :D
Not a multiple, I'm afraid. Darts lover, full time lurker. Used to be a big poster on AndyFair's old board in the early naughties (depressing that's 17 years ago). Thought I'd share my worthless twopenneth again.

Anyhow, hi!
In that case, welcome back. You've hit the nail on the head regarding MCs so far.

Ignore the w*nkers on here. :D

Except Little Richard uses cue cards.
I think you'll find he might have done but 99% of the time, he doesn't
Even posted on social media his regular routine of making them.
Just doesn't read from them on stage normally.
But but but he used a card once, that’s that’s that’s all that matters....... :showbum: :showbum:

Looking back on how the bdo revealed the new ref team (was it frontline?) one by one seems all a bit pathetic really.
A selling point for the new events!
Be interesting to see what kind of turnover they have re new refs in the coming year.

Those with the gig will stick around. PDC have no interest in them and having got the gig I'm sure they'll be reluctant to give it up.

Might have been fun to apply but I wouldn't have given Des the satisfaction of selling me to sod off because of my opinions on here.

I know for a fact he asked Cheshire reps about me when I was thinking about chucking my hat in the ring for county chair. :D

Final comment.

There's a difference between using a cue card on stage to introduce the Papua New Guinea Ladies vs San Marino Ladies in the WDF World Cup having done 20 games already that day, versus using them for the final of the World Masters and the final of the World Trophy, having already introduced those players at least 3 times during the same tournament.

This was said rep reading the text response from Des, following his advice that you were a viable candidate.

Does "Latvian Pairs Champion" mean anything anyway? Waste of time mentioning it. Go down the "Winner of X World Ranking titles" route instead.
