The Practice Area - What's it about, rules and instructions

TSOD Practice Board

2. The Games
3. How to submit your score

1. Introduction

This area is for a bit of competitive fun for all of us. Over the last couple of years across the old forum and this we’ve all seen threads go up with practice games and had a go at seeing where we rank against each other, including some pros to show us what can be achieved. Whether you choose to post your score or keep it to yourself hopefully you will find something here to help your game or just to make practice a little more interesting. There may be some prizes along the way although the leader boards will of course rely on your honesty. If there are any games you would like to see added in the future please post on the Practice Board Suggestions thread. We hope you have some fun with this and good luck!
2. The Games

Bob's 27
Devised by Bob Anderson to practice your doubles this game makes use of all the outer doubles on the board. The name comes from the fact that you start off with a score of 27, there are 2 basic rules in this game.
1. Starting at Double 1 you throw 3 darts at the double, then move on to Double 2 and all the way up to Double 20.
2. Scoring – award yourself the value of every dart that hits the target after each visit to the board. If you miss with all 3 darts subtract the value of the double you are aiming at from your score.
Examples – Starting at Double 1 you hit the target with 2 darts and miss the third. To your starting score of 27 you award yourself 4 points (the value of the scoring darts) and take your score of 31 onwards to Double 2.
If you missed with all 3 darts at double 1 then you have to subtract the value of the double (in this case 2) from your score of 27 so you move onwards to Double 2 with a score of 25.
If your score gets to zero then that game is finished and you must start again at the beginning. To offer some encouragement when getting used to this game instead of not being able to post a score if you hit zero you may post the value on the last successful double that you hit – so if you missed all 3 at Double 11 taking you down to zero you may post up a score of 20 so you know you got as far as Double 10 last time. Any questions please post them in the Bob’s 27 thread and good luck.
Bullseye Bash
Nice and simple this one – throw 20 visits (60 darts) at the bull and award yourself 3 points for each one and 1 point for each dart in the 25.
Power Scoring
Another game involving 20 visits (60 darts). Simply throw at whatever target you want and award yourself the following points for your 3 dart total scores each visit:
50+ : 1 point
75+ : 2 points
96 + : 3 points
100+: 4 points
137+: 5 points
170+: 10 points
60/30
Simple rules here its you against the clock. 30 minutes focusing on the Treble 20. Award yourself 1 point for every Treble 20 you can hit in 30 minutes.
Halve It
Starting with a score of 40, you throw 3 darts at the following targets and add the value of all scoring darts to your score at the end of each visit. If you miss with all 3 darts then you halve your score after the visit. The single number targets are broken down into either inside the double and treble (Big numbers) or inside the treble and 25 (Little numbers). Please post any questions on the Halve It thread.
Big 8
Double 18
Little 3
Treble 15
Little 12
Double 16
Treble 20
Bull (Score 25 for outer bull, 50 for inner bull)

3. Submitting Your Scores
Each of the games has its own thread – please post your scores only in this thread and any questions you have in the Game’s questions thread. We will try to update the leader boards as regularly as possible, please bear with us while you are waiting for your score to appear.
Thanks and good luck!

I'm a bit under the weather so I'll have a crack on the weekend.

I don't think I'll get anywhere near Mr C though!
