It doesnt even contain the best 24 men in the WDF system!

Who wrote this press release, Ted Hankey?

That would be funny except Ted wasn't even invited!!!

Can't find a schedule anywhere - not on BDO, WDF or Zuiderduin Masters official site...

you`re not trying very hard :D

Not exactly, I miss quite a few, your avatar pal MA and the Count being 2 of them.

Never had this before, looking out for the ladies' matches rather than the men's, must be because of the bag carrying threesome on here. :)
unfortunately this is one bag carrier that will be staying home :( :crybaby2:

But the good news is that I can do a split screen on tv and have both the zuiderduin and the players champs on at the same time.

The Zuiderduin started in 2001...the prize money for the first event in 2001 won by Barney was :

Prijzengeld
Kampioen € 5.000 5e-8e plaats € 1.500
2e plaats € 2.500 9e-24e plaats € 1.000
3e-4e plaats € 2.000

The prize money for 2010...10 years later was..

Prijzengeld
Kampioen € 5.000 5e-8e plaats € 1.500
2e plaats € 2.500 9e-24e plaats € 1.000
3e-4e plaats € 2.000

Notice the similarity :D

That is not knocking the event as it is a good event, well run and the players are looked after very well which is equal to extra prize money...but you would think that there would have been just a little increase over 10 years from somewhere..it is a pretty poor payout and even the diehards musty admit that, despite the way the players are looked after while they are there
I am looking forward to the event though

Latest facts of the day:

After 10 years, when the numbers of dutch participants at events has fallen dramatically, when the number of dutch tournaments has fallen dramatically, when a large number of events have come and gone due to lack of sponsorship and/or interest, when the introduction of the euro has crippled many businesses ( thats not just a recent thing its been going on for years ), when there has been a worldwide banking and credit crisis, the Zuiderduin Masters is still there.

Is it better to pay out in relation to inflation and go bust, or pay out an amount of money the organisers know they can handle even if they lose a sponsor at short notice.

Avalon, its because there are no Dutch players doing well. If Barney ever becomes world champion again, Dutch darts would get a massive boost.
Until last year, there were no darts on terrestrial TV in the Netherlands.
People will play it, if they see it on TV!

Quick question, why does RTV NL need the news for 15mins every hour FFS!?

also I think I am correct in saying that the players get the rooms et al paid for, thats a few quid as well but if you dont like the prize money then dont accept the invitation.

This fixation on prize money as the measure of a tournament's quality is utter tripe and the constant raising of the top prize looks nice but it will have to end, its great to have a headline of £100k for the winner but when the bubble bursts, and it will, you will see the prizes slashed to more realistic figures

Danny, Danny, Danny, you`re doing it again.

I moved to the Netherlands when I first left England in 1996, there was darts on Dutch TV, it was on TV for years after until two things happened, one the `fad` of darts came to an end ( maybe you are old enough to remember the fad of things like skateboards when the world and his mother had one not anymore though ) and two the euro bit in and hit everyone in the pocket, the busineses had to make cut backs which in turn hit the employees who are the public. The first thing most of the public do to economise is to cut back on leisure activities which meant not going out to the pub so often for a game of darts, it meant not travelling away from home every saturday and sunday to a tournament. The events got fewer and fewer entries, this effected the potential for sponsorship, events stopped running, this in turn led to less interest overall in darts, which led to sbs6 pulling the plug.
It is pretty much stabilised now in the netherlands and I think what we see now is what we will see in the next few years.
