Post by MarcusLad-180 »

Discuss anything to do with the Europe cup this year be it Mens, Womans and youth :) If anyone could post any information that would be great its just under a month away and all I know is who is in the welsh team.

Yup, the EUROPE Cup in the ASIAN part of Turkey at the same venue which holds a NON-EUROPEAN ranking event for Lakeside.

Go figure.

Bit like turkey and Israel in the eurovision song contest Bradders!

Belgium pulled out of holding comp and turkey was the only country to offer to run it , well done to all involved think it's from 28th October to nov 2nd , I will be there as part of the EDO advance party from the 21st, just to make sure the beer is of the required standard.

My problem is with consistency Paul, the BDO say that the Turkish Open is a non-European event yet the WDF are happy to hold the Europe Cup at the same venue.

Or translated - "no other f****r wanted to host it".

The host country Bradders has to pay all the costs it's a huge undertaking! What the BDO do has sweet FA to do with the WDF world & Europe cups all they do is award it points.
The facilities of the venue in turkey are first class and couldn't really give a toss whether it's in Europe , Asia or never never land .
EDO ,WDO and SDA have the input in Europe cup not the BDO.

Nothing better to do Ginge :D

Part of Turkey is in Asia part is in Europe....

60% of Russia is in Asia but it is considered to be a European land. Russia have just competed in the European Championships. A few countries spread across both continents, Turkey being one of them. At short notice Turkey agreed to host the European Cup after Belgium dropped out. It was also held in the same part of Turkey 2 years ago but I don`t recall you having a problem with it then, I think you need to get out more :D

haha - I do get the point Ginge is making...

I refereed at the last Turkish Open and European Cup in 2010. Seems funny that I called finals of the WDF European Cup which were followed one week later ON THE SAME STAGE by an Open event listed as "outside Europe" by the BDO Invitational Table - so that's another continent I've ref'd in then? Get in!!

Like Avalon said I'm always a bit confused with these two countries. As part of my business we list business contracts and have to post them under continents. Never too sure with Turkey and Russia if it should be in Asia or Europe.
