Glad the TV board myth has finally been busted, now for the TV oche only being 1'6" from the board and the cameras make it look like it's 7'9" away debate

You will not get this kind of proper discussion on any other darts forums.

I think you are forgetting that the PDPA only admit players with 8' arms...nikkiboy wrote:Which I suppose is a good and a bad thing for manufacturers, good in that the board wears out quicker so has to be replaced quicker but bad in that people just don't realise that the stems are the reason and ultimately blame the boards.Edward Lowy wrote:Hi PaulWCDPA wrote:When we done a precision measurement test for the One80 board to comply to recent WDF spec test , we had a blade 4 , Bulls bandit, Puma Shot and a Nodor board measured , would it surprise you as a long time board manufacturer that they varies quite a lot from existing rules.Edward Lowy wrote:We do indeed Col.Col wrote:Ed as you are no doubt aware there has been an age old debate going on on darts forums about the size of dartboards.
Are you able to confirm if Unicorn and the PDC follow a set of rules and criteria for the size of the scoring areas on your dartboards? If so what are these rules and criteria?
Doubles and trebles 9.6 mm +/- 0.2 mm
Outer bull 31.8 mm +/- 0.3 mm
Inner bull 12.7 mm +/- 0.2 mm
Kind regards
Edward
Did you also know under current BDO ranking rules a Unicorn board if complied to WDF spec could be used.
Finally again with your great experience the WDF are talking of a durability test for our One80 board , how is durability on a dart board measured in your opinion. This query is not a dig at Unicorn just to seek your opinion .
Played on Unicorn at one of Dave Dempseys Darts4u events , tried to get BDO points for the ladies events as their are no ladies in pdpa , was told if they meet WDF criteria on measurement would be ok.
We are very familiar with the worldwide supply chain for bristle boards. We only work with factories where we are satisfied with their standards. In terms of durability we have our own test rigs that exercise the surface of the board. We typically look at 500,000 / 1 million insertions. One of the biggest changes in recent years is the proliferation of machined points by players and frankly these destroy the surface of the board much more rapidly.
Kind regards
Edward

Re: Question for Ed Lowy
This is all well and good but how do we explain the universally accepted 15 point scoring differential?
