Hopefully the EDO will breakaway from the BDO and concentrate fully on enhancing their Tournaments

Re: BDO Fanatics
You seem disappointed the BDO is once again rising to the challenge and is once again in charge of the Darting scene in England. If all you can do is post negativity, why do you not post positive comments about the PDC in stead. As you attitude is unbecoming and not needed here. Here's a hint, flick the chip off your shoulder mate.Rout wrote:I think the new head of the BDO should be someone who hides under his bed when small pensioners knock on his door.
Anyone know any candidates?

Re: BDO Fanatics
There's a great thread on there now about whether the PDC would ever have a women's division, seemingly unaware the main reason there isn't one is lack of support, the other being Hearn saying the PDC Tour is open to all.
The general theory goes that the prize funds in women's eventa should be higher, but they don't seem to ever say where this money comes from.

They couldn't compete in the PDC so that's a misnomer.markymark wrote:There's a great thread on there now about whether the PDC would ever have a women's division, seemingly unaware the main reason there isn't one is lack of support, the other being Hearn saying the PDC Tour is open to all.

Re: BDO Fanatics
The BDOs push for womens darts reminds me of the scene in The Rebel with Tony Hancock where after every 2 good pictures he slots in one of "the rubbish" ones hoping they will be accepted without anyone noticing how bad they are.

The great irony of the PDC's success is that by doing what all the BDO diehards deplore - aggressively promoting a game centered on the top players - they've put themselves into position to cater for many, many more players. I have no idea if Hearn ever seriously wanted to promote women's darts - the fact that the women's world championship went nowhere is no indication that he didn't, after all the PDC also pulled the plug on other, obviously serious ventures like the Desert Classic - but I'm sure it's got to be a little distressing to supporters of women's darts that even teenage male players can now win prize money comparable to nearly all female players, bar perhaps the top four or five in a given season. If you're, I dunno, the 10th-ranked female player in the world and you're taking a look at the Development Tour Order of Merit...ouch.markymark wrote:There's a great thread on there now about whether the PDC would ever have a women's division, seemingly unaware the main reason there isn't one is lack of support, the other being Hearn saying the PDC Tour is open to all.

In a way, the PDC's success has opened up an even greater gulf between men's and women's darts than it has between the PDC and the BDO. If that was easy to fix, somebody would have come up with an idea already. Of course it would be trivial for the PDC to start building up a women's circuit, but imagine the outcry if they started it up like they did the Youth Tour five years ago, and the women "had to" play for, say, £3,000 per tournament while the Development and Challenge Tours are already at £10k. Hearn and Porter would never hear the end of it, even though it would be completely sensible to start out small-scale. It's no surprise the PDC barely mentions women's darts these days - the risk-reward ratio of dealing with it is pretty terrible from their vantage point.

Pity they don't watch darts as well, then there wouldn't be half empty venues on finals day.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:BDO fanatics by large play darts.

Re: BDO Fanatics
This is a thread dedicated to the BDO, therefore I must agree the PDC boys have got it wrong there and need to wake up.

You were singing the praises of the BDO at the weekend and now you're advocating a split?

You get awards for getting wildcards?
Re: BDO Fanatics
Nominations are still ongoing according to the link below unless Des is talking about a different award.
