No, no, no. All of these games against the same opponents mean everything to these guys. Whether it's playing in front of the fantasists/failures that inhabit Dubai, or the WMP semi final, it's life and death stuff. Rod said so.
Surely the issue is that he doesn't need to care - in the last two years Anderson has won at least £1,264,298, according to Darts Database, which doesn't include some of the World Series events. Over £1 million of that has come in 2 world championship wins, and non-ranking exbos and tournaments. Why should he care if he loses? He's guaranteed to qualify for every major there is, does the minimum needed to get to UK Open and Euro tour, and has won the one that really matters twice!

Isn't the risk that some players near the top of the PDC really don't need to care that much about other majors if they win the World Championship, as the difference between winning that and any of the others grows so large that your place in the top two or three in the world is almost guaranteed for two years if you win the big one, and you're almost guaranteed to be in PL and World Series as well?

I agree. I wouldn't give a flying fuck if I lost if I'd coined in a seven figure sum playing the game. It's just some people think it actually matters. SSJSA and Harrington being two.

Imo MVG cares. He gets mocked for his tears when he had come 2nd in an event. But that shows he is one player who does care about titles (as well as the cash of course).

They do A Good Build Up On Sky Imo.

Harington making comment how real fans come to this event rather than some who only go for a night out at other events (he didn't mention the PL but he must know the problem will need to be sorted at some point )

Taylor on 32 (3rd leg) mvg on 257. Taylor misses 3 at a double and mvg does 257 in 6. Great leg.

3-2 to mvg. Nice bull by taylor there.

Exciting start to the game.

I was at the players meeting a couple of years ago where uncle Barry was saying they need to do something about the crowds, they never have.

Final starting to liven up now. MVG 101 average and Phil now up to 99.

Taylor must be ruing those missed doubles in the 3rd leg.

Pretty even match thus far, with only those missed doubles by Phil in the 3rd leg, separating them. Averages MVG 100.81 and Taylor 100.83.

I know there is some banter on here and sometimes we can take darts/debates too seriously but is anyone watching this and actually not appreciating a good game is being played.

Mvg handling the pressure well. 6-4 lead. Hope he keeps this up.

Absolutely gutted about this final. Didn't expect Taylor would play like this if he would have played like previous matches he would have had a chance en we could have watched a real game.

Was mvg confident or foolish to go T16 D8 when needing 64 with 2 darts instead of the 14 route?

He is playing superb at the moment.
