Press Release - BDO & Sportotal Commercial Partnership
Sportotal has today announced it has signed a multi-year deal with the British Darts Organisation to become their exclusive commercial advisor and representative.
Having exclusively acted for The BDO in the appointment of Channel 4 as the broadcast partner for the 2017 and 2018 BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships, Sportotal and the BDO have now entered a multi-year partnership to devise and implement a long term commercial strategy for the BDO at every level and sphere of activity.
Sportotal’s global remit includes the management of all other commercial partnerships, the creation and implementation of a strategic commercial strategy across audio-visual, sponsorship, licensing, digital media, data, and all other commercial activities.
Stephen Holland, Co-Founder and Director of Sportotal said: “Having previously represented elements of the BDO’s business, we are delighted that, for the first time, we will act across all their commercial interests. This will give us the opportunity to oversee the structure of the event
schedule best equipped to deliver the optimum commercial programme over a number of years.”
Sue Williams, Chairperson of the BDO said: “For some time, we have been looking for the right partner to advise us across our entire commercial portfolio in a cohesive way. We have been impressed with the results Sportotal have achieved for us in the past and their approach for the future. We are looking forward to working with them to grow our fan base, commercial programme and number of partners of stature, to drive the BDO forward.”

Re: Press Release - BDO & Sportotal Commercial Partnership
Also there is a big lie in the 2nd paragraph as we all know it was warren that first started the c4 negotiations
Re: RE: Re: Press Release - BDO & Sportotal Commercial Partnership
Also remember one of the directors of this outfit ran BDO Events, a company that incurred a huge six figure loss running two events. Lunacy if you ask me.oche balboa wrote:Who knows but we have to make sure we hold them to account

FFS people. Stop being so negative.
The BDO board know what they are doing.
Just look at the success of the #new era last year.
Things are looking up for the BDO.

Re: Press Release - BDO & Sportotal Commercial Partnership
All those pages about their expertise and what they do is hilarious. All sounds very professional and complicated until you realise none of it adds up to anything whatsoever.
Re: Press Release - BDO & Sportotal Commercial Partnership
All of the stuff mentioned in the press release is pretty much just the old BDO Events pitch rehashed and then doubled down on. But the part I like best is this:
And the guy they found is somebody who's been hanging around the place for the last three years already, amazing. Guess he won't be playing with any of his own money this time though.Sue Williams, Chairperson of the BDO said: “For some time, we have been looking for the right partner to advise us across our entire commercial portfolio in a cohesive way.

Re: Press Release - BDO & Sportotal Commercial Partnership
So has this got something to do with the re wording of the rules? Could make a little more sense if they have something lined up to go with it.
Strange how this guy is a BDOE guy. They did do a good job at the time just not financially sustainable.
Why announce this now and not before they started helping? They've obviously had them around a while.
Thank goodness no mention of new events this time round.
Sadly as this guy proved first time around they didn't have the expertise or the contacts, who certainly wanted to get involved, to make this a success. In the last 3 years what further experience has he obtained.

Sportotal secures new broadcast partner for the British Darts Organisation
Sportotal, the sports marketing agency, has acted exclusively for the British Darts Organisation (The BDO) in securing a new terrestrial broadcaster for The Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships.
As part of the BDO’s broadcast strategy, Sportotal, having already secured expressions of interest, was appointed in November 2015 to conduct negotiations.
Sportotal played key additional roles in
•Acting on the BDO’s behalf in relation to Channel 4’s sub-licensing proposal
and
•Providing commercial advice to Gilson Gray acting for the BDO in concluding the Long Form Contract.
Stephen Holland, Director of Sportotal commented: “We are delighted to have assisted the BDO in securing the broadcasting future of The Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships for at least the next two years. This tournament is an institution in the British sporting calendar and we are enormously proud that it will remain on terrestrial television with a broadcaster of the stature of Channel 4. With a tournament of this length and depth of quality it is further pleasing that Channel 4 will also partner with BT Sport to maximise coverage. BT Sport has covered the tournament with distinction over the last couple of years”
