Could be just what Asian darts needs might be an expansion on the PDJ. Be interesting to see where the tour goes should be South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong Malaysia and China.

Re: PDC Asia Tour
I wonder if they’ll tag some of the tour events on to the World Series???
Re: PDC Asia Tour
Good prize money too for this. Just need something similar in North America and maybe the Pacific and then most countries are covered.

Re: PDC Asia Tour
It says "Overseas Players"? Could some UK soft tippers, who are over there every few months play and qualify for the Worlds?
Re: PDC Asia Tour
Paul Lim to win this tour!
Re: PDC Asia Tour
They normally have a residents rule. That applies to the SDC tour to only allow Scandinavians and those from Baltics to take part. So stops some of the lower level U.K. players flying over as only a few events a year.Wubbalubbadubdub wrote:It says "Overseas Players"? So Asian tour will probably define the eligible countries for entry.

Wouldn't mind some streaming coverage for this, would be interesting seeing the standard as opposed to the couple of times the Asian representatives get UK experience.

If you search a bit more on Facebook they have a list of eligible countries. Which is all Asian countries and think you have to be a passport holder.Wubbalubbadubdub wrote:It says "Overseas Players"? Could some UK soft tippers, who are over there every few months play and qualify for the Worlds?

Re: PDC Asia Tour
Tour goes to Seoul, then Macau, cut off for the World Cup happens here
Then onto Kobe, Japan. Followed by Kaula Lumpa, Malaysia
Last two legs to be decided but it seems to be the Chinese who are setting this up so I imagine one leg will be in China.
When you think that Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan (who hosted a PDC worlds qualifier) and India (who saw its first attendant at q-school) and the Philippines might not host an event you see the growth potential.

It says top 4 of the Asian order of merit qualify for the worlds. So probably a like for like swap for all the separate Asian qualifiers. The Jolly Man wrote:That's the expansion of the world champs sorted then.

Re: PDC Asia Tour
I can see the PDC having 8 Asian players. They are probably looking to open up a new market now. They keep saying the U.K. Is saturated. I imagine they fear Germany will hit its peak soon. So they might as well give Asia a go, somewhere they have never really pumped money into.MancheStar wrote:It says top 4 of the Asian order of merit qualify for the worlds. I just don't think they will get rid of certain qualifiers to protect interest. They will want a Chinese player and a Japanese player in there

Re: PDC Asia Tour
THE Professional Darts Corporation's global expansion will continue in 2018 with the introduction of the PDC Asian Tour.
The growth of steel-tip darts in the region in recent years has included World Series of Darts events in China and Japan and inclusion for players from across the region in the World Championship and World Cup of Darts.
The PDC Asian Tour will feature six weekends of two events in 2018, beginning in Seoul on March 10-11, with a season-ending World Championship Qualifier to find four players for the sport's biggest event.
Further PDC Asian Tour events will be held in Macao, Kobe, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and China mainland throughout the year, giving greater opportunities for Asian players in the steel-tip format.
Each weekend will feature one event per day, with $10,000 in prize money on offer including $3,600 to the winner, while the format will see best of seven leg matches played throughout each event in a step towards the PDC's professional circuit.
"It's fantastic to see the ongoing growth of professional darts worldwide continuing with the introduction of the PDC Asian Tour," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"The potential for darts across Asia is huge, and this new tour will provide vital experience for players in addition to the exposure they are currently receiving to PDC events."
The new PDC Asian Tour has been backed by Singapore's Paul Lim, who starred recently in the World Championship and has been the region's most successful player.
"It is huge," said Lim. "This tour is going to be the biggest news for Asian darts.
"I think right now, with what is going on in the world of darts, it has fed over to Asia and is creating a little bit of a frenzy.
"Steel-tip darts is catching on now in Asian darts. It has always been more popular with electronic darts, but I think it's going to be exciting for steel-tip to be over in Asia.
"It will create that next level, which is what the PDC is about. It's the biggest thing that ever happened in Asia."
