Ladies 16 seeds that 1 extra entry ensured that only 8 seeds if 128 , good news for top 8 as takes some potential dangerous players out of the market , well at least until the later rounds .

The 2018 Scottish Open has attracted more than 1000 players.
A grand total of 916 men and 129 women will compete in the Renfrew event. They go head-to-head from 16-18 February. Men’s champion Cameron Menzies will not defend his title after attempting a switch to the PDC. But former PDC stars Andy Hamilton and Wes Newton will be at the Normandy Cosmopolitan Hotel. 2012 PDC world finalist Hamilton lost his Tour Card at the end of 2017. The Hammer has opted to focus on BDO events, though he recently qualified for the UK Open. Wes Newton, who failed to win back his PDC card, has also added his name to the Scottish Open list. Dennis Harbour and Wesley Harms, the 2015 and 2013 champions, will be in attendance.

Lakeside finalists Glen Durrant and Mark McGeeney will also be involved. Fallon Sherrock returns to Scotland to defend her 2017 crown. She faces tough competition. Four-time Scottish Open winner Deta Hedman and Lakeside runner-up Anastasia Dobromyslova are among the competitors. But world champion Lisa Ashton is not on the 129-strong list.

I was thinking that if O'Shea was playing then there isn't anything stopping Menzies defending his title....but then realised he couldn't because although he's in the same boat as O'Shea he played Lakeside and O'Shea didn't....which does make that rule a little silly really..

Let’s see if the former PDC stars beat the BDO elite like the BDO stars have been doing on the PDC tour!

Any streaming of this event, usually so?

I can't imagine any out of form player would do well, to be honest.

Is this the "team" perspective?

Any ex PDC player dropping into the BDO usually means they were on the wane and not competitive in the PDC so there is no reason to suggest they would suddenly become a force in the BDO..
There is absolutely no reason however why the likes of Jamie Hughes and others who were on the up in the BDO shouldn't beat a lot of PDC players...it's just common sense

But but but they are all "sub standard j obbers" in the BDO, "any PDC can easily win Lakeside"............

Hamilton & Boulton are on the same board. The seeded player is Daniel Day

Newton is on the same board as Conan Whitehead
TSOD World Grand Prix Prediction winner 2017.

The prize money tad top heavy for number of entry for both men’s and women’s and should be increased

Mens 3000 1500 480 200 80 40 20

Woman’s 1000 400 160 70 40

I think it should be this 3000 1200 500 300 125 50 25 9k mens

Woman’s 1000 500 300 125 50 3k

There's an £1800 drop from first to second, may as well just lock the finalists in a room for 10 minutes to work out a deal.
