Wasnt me who spotted it, was someone on df. Said he had died of a heart attack "earlier on thursday" but I can't imagine he gets someone else to Tweet his naff predictions on Twitter and he did that at 5.16 this afternoon.

If Jacques says it has happened, then I tend to believe it. He is a reliable source.

Why did they put it on and then remove it? Bizarre.

Terrible news. A great player, humorous commentator, and will be sorely missed on the exhibition circuit I'm sure.

I feel greatly for poor Rod Studd & Stuart Pyke having to commentate during this knowing the news.

Classily handled by Pyke there, so professional.

Tragic news.

For those of my generation, he was the first superstar of darts, and the face of the sport. As a Jocky Wilson fan, used to love the matches between the two.

Huge loss and condolences to his friends and family.

RIP Eric, you will be missed.

Always a shame in cases like this that idiots make jokes, but also that it's so sudden and no celebration for the man before he went.

Bruce Forsyth for instance was a great age and had sign-offs on TV where he was celebrated, but Eric was just 60 and went just like that. Something that often gets overlooked this.

Rest in peace Crafty Cockney.

Very sad news. Dart players don't seem to live to ripe old ages and is a lesson to us all to be healthier :(
