Saying that the figures for the other darts hardly look amazing. All sessions between 50 and 95k by the looks.
Personally always watch PDC darts on Sky, PDC tv or whatever terrestrial channel it is on, but given the proliferation of free streams available for all sports and the continuing increase in Sky subscription charges, it is no surprise that Sky viewing numbers are on the wane.
It's not good though.

Don't disagree Chris. Under 100k viewing figures are not good.

Clearly the pay channels are still doing ok, but don't know why they keep bidding higher, and offering more money for sporting rights when there are significantly greater numbers cancelling their subscriptions and using free streams instead.

It is terrible though and highlights the major problem the BDO has if they think they are going to go anywhere.

They have no TV deal with any channel and if any potential channel wants to see what their last production got on TV they will have to say it didnt even make 9,000 viewers for the final (as well as only selling about 50 tickets)

BDO needs to ask themselves what their goal is.

50 tickets sold for the final for a televised BDO major. If you sit back and think about it; how bad is that?

It cannot be emphasised enough how disastrous this event was. Awful Viewers, Awful Production, Awful Prize Money, Massive Loss to BDO, Awful PR for their product,
Just awful.
Anyone involved in this in a normal Company would be instantly sacked. I am convinced virtually anyone on here could have done a better job.
There is simply no hiding how calamitous it was. I can't see anyone touching them with a barge-pole with regards decent TV/SPonsors etc.
And all that despite, as usual, some perfectly decent darts on show.

It's almost as if the Williams wanted it to fail to give Jacklin the worst possible start position come August. Will be tough negotiating with sponsors, venues and broadcasters following the biggest calamity of a tournament in history.
