One assumes they would be inviting this years instead. They have been a year behind in recent years, this gives them a chance to catch up until the BDO change the dates again

That would be great, does the Masters end before the GS cutoff date?

Even though I think Ratajski should get a place but sadly he won't. Still would be nice if the GS included the Masters champ from the same year, as it should have been from the start.

No-one seems to know the real BDO qualifying criteria. Or care.

The PDC affiliated PDPA are saying it's Durrant, plus 7. Ratajski apparently "can't qualify" from either route as it stands - their words not mine.

https://www.pdpa.co.uk/events/grand-slam-of-darts/

"BDO Qualifiers 8 Criteria TBC:
World Champion - Glen Durrant
World Master - N/A
World Trophy - Glen Durrant

The remaining BDO invites up to 8 will be based on the next highest in the BDO rankings on cut off date at the end of September 2018."

This from the PDC qualifying route.... re: Ratajski

"This list can produce a maximum of 28 players. If it produces more than 16 players, they shall be taken in order as listed above and no further players shall qualify automatically.

If it produces fewer than 16 places then additional places shall be filled from the reserve list in the following order: OoM rankings will be as per cut off date.
European Tour Events:
1-Mensur Suljovic (6th)
2-Max Hopp (40th)
Players Championship:
3-Ian White (13th)
4-Mervyn King (21st)
5-Michael Mansell (66th)
6-Jeffrey de Zwaan (68th)
UK Open Qualifiers:
7-Krzysztof Ratajski (N/A as now unable to qualify)"

Is the reason Ratajski cant qualify from the PDC route because he doesn’t have a tour card?

Probably. Seems harsh as 8 BDO players are there.

He's not able to qualify the PDC route due to 16 spots now filled. Mansell will drop out next if a new winner/finalist qualifies or someone above him in OOM wins a players championship (de Zwaan hasn't had his money earned from the Matchplay added yet)

I don't think that's what they mean. He can qualify through the PDC route, only as it stands his UK open qualifier win is 17th in line for 16 spots (first majors, then European tours, then pc's and only then UK open qualifiers) . So he can't qualify anymore from his UK open qualifier win. If he won anything higher up in the ranking, like one of the ET's he'd qualify if I understand correctly.

Edit: Damn you billyd!! :D
