2018 Open Carnoustie

Post by ssjsa »

1st day has seen the odds fluctuate dramatically.

My bet was on Jordan Speith to win at 22/1, and going into the last 6 holes of his round, he was 10/1.

Finished at +1 and is now 40/1.

Carnoustie is the only Open Championship course I have played, and despite it being 37 years ago, my 133 score still gives me nightmares. Gave up golf for a number of years after that.

My normal score was between 86 and 94 when I played Hazlehead, Balnagask and The Links in Aberdeen, and this was the first and last time I ever scored over 110.

Only time I ever had a round anywhere near that score. Was only 17 at the time, so an eternity ago, but vaguely remember being in the water, at least once, in each of the 1st seven holes. Also had a disaster playing Spectacles which I think was the 14th hole.

All part of life's experiences, but not one which I have fond memories of.
