Re: CLoD moves to Brighton.
TWO places in the 2018 Champions League of Darts are up for grabs heading into the BetVictor World Matchplay, which begins in Blackpool on Saturday.
The third staging of the Champions League will see eight players competing on September 22-23 at The Brighton Centre, live on BBC Sport.
The eight-player field will be confirmed following the World Matchplay, with six competitors are already assured of their spot in the £250,000 tournament.
Reigning champion Mensur Suljovic will be joined joined by world number one Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and Daryl Gurney, who have all qualified via the PDC Order of Merit.
World Champion and world number three Rob Cross will also make his Champions League debut at a local venue for the Hastings star.
The final two places will be decided at the World Matchplay, with Simon Whitlock and Dave Chisnall currently occupying the next two spots in the rankings.
However, the likes of Michael Smith, James Wade, Ian White, Gerwyn Price and Raymond van Barneveld are all in the hunt to qualify.
With a £115,000 first prize on offer in Blackpool, a number of players could snatch a qualification place should they go on to glory at the Winter Gardens.
The eight qualifying players are initially split into two groups of four for the opening three sessions, which see the group rivals meet once before the top two players from each group progress to the semi-finals and final.

Here's the Champions League qualification tables entering the quarter-finals. Simon Whitlock is safe unless Darren Webster beats Dave Chisnall in the final.

So the players field is actually set.

Re: PDC Champions League of Darts 22nd-23rd September 2018- Brighton
EXCITEMENT is building for the 2018 Champions League of Darts with just one month to go before the start of September's tournament at The Brighton Centre.
The third staging of the Champions League of Darts will take place on the south coast for the first time on September 22-23, televised live on BBC Sport, with tickets still available HERE.
Reigning champion Mensur Suljovic will defend his title against his rivals in the world's top eight players, led by world number one Michael van Gerwen.
World Champion Rob Cross, based in nearby Hastings, will get the chance to step out on his 'home' stage on his Champions League debut, alongside Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney - the 2017 World Grand Prix champion.
2017 Champions League finalist Gary Anderson is bidding to add to the UK Open and World Matchplay titles he has won already this year, while colourful world number two Peter Wright is aiming to add to this month's Melbourne Darts Masters triumph.
Former Grand Slam of Darts finalist Dave Chisnall and Australian debutant Simon Whitlock complete the eight-player field, having claimed the final two qualifying places at last month's World Matchplay.
"The Champions League of Darts has become a hugely popular event since being introduced to the circuit two years ago," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
"The concept of the world's top eight players facing off over one weekend is one which works perfectly for BBC Sport, and we feel that The Brighton Centre is an ideal venue to host the Champions League of Darts.
"With the Premier League's growth seeing Brighton replaced on that circuit, we remained committed to taking a televised PDC event to the south coast and we're delighted for this to be this year's Champions League of Darts."

Re: PDC Champions League of Darts 22nd-23rd September 2018- Brighton
Just seen something on FB from PaddyPower saying they are sponsoring this event. Thought it was Unibet?
Amusing video on there with most of the players involved.
Warning for WhitlockFan or whatever he is called - it has a swear word in it, so maybe ask your mummy first to see if she will let you watch it.
EDIT - PP breaking this news before the PDC, rather than at the same time.

Is now. PP put it on Facebook even before the PDC did their "announcement of an announcement" Tweet. Methinks someone jumped the gun.ChrisW wrote:It's on the PDC site.Ginge wrote:Just seen something on FB from PaddyPower saying they are sponsoring this event. Thought it was Unibet?
